TN: Tag

Holyl Carp!! I must'a been even more tired than youse guys. I spent about two hours finding that place and getting the shot on Wednesday then never poSTed it!
Here's the old one: IMG_4529.jpg

And the one that was supposed to take it's place: IMG_4531.jpg <---<<<< Note: this is NOT the current tag, just a pipe dream on my part. :(

By the way, Bruce is a member over at ADV Riders. He was the first guy to get a tag pic and not it get it poSTed before another member there scooped him. :D

<edit, add> I bet I did the same as previously, built the whole note then hit <back> instead of <post> I've done it before. Ah, well, such is life. :D

Man, I sure do remember poSTing those on Friday morning, did I STick'em on the wrong thread?? Makes no diff as they ain't in THIS thread so BleST officially has the TN tag right now. STill... I gotta wonder. :think1: :shrug2:

Well, this one was rather easy. I happened to be in the area and decided to find the exact spot for the photo. A nearby tourist offered to take the picture so I graciously accepted.

Sorry for the sideways picture. It's always turned correctly on my computer... sigh. :(

A few weeks later I came across this beautiful location and thought it would make for a good tag. Enjoy the curves getting there. Plenty of great scenery in the area.

I finally got around to moving the TN tag last week. On Jan 2 I made a fast dash to FCF STate Park to pick up the current tag. It was a cold windy day with temps around 38 when we left and 30 when we got to the park with a few snow flakes floating around. I formally moved the tag to its new location yesterday. Good rd for a lazy liesurely ride with no traffic this time of year. Would be a lot more fun if the speed limit was 20 mph higher.

Figured as long as I was in the area (well, in the state :D) I'd get this one. Great little road up the mountain from town, Rockwood, TN. Continued north and west from there, picked Monterey as a good replacement, airport to train station...

Old:

Funny thing happened today. We were out riding and ended up in Monteray. While taking a break for some water and munchies I realized I was only 50-55 miles from Rockwood and decided to make a run for the TN tag. When we got to Rockwood, I checked my phone to get the address of the Tag from the photo posted on ST-Owners. Wouldn't you know it George had already picked it up the day before! I should have known to check the SiTe before I embarked on this mission since I knew he was in the area! Fortunately he didn't move the Tag too far( I was 400 yds from it earlier in the day!) away in Monteray. I doubled back and moved the tag to its present location in Sparta, TN. If you don't ride Hwy 84 getting to this site make sure you do it on your way out. Hwy 84 runs from Sparta to Monteray and is one fun and scenic rd! The new tag is a block from the intersection of Hwy 70 and Hwy 84.

The new tag is the first pic and old tag is the second..

Well, I found the tag easy enough but getting to it was a bit of a challenge today. There was a car show in downtown Sparta today and several blocks were barricaded off for it. I figured that since the ST is good looking I would just ride around one of the barricades and park in front of the old theater like she belonged there. I got a few strange looks but no one chased me away. :)

Hint: Beware! The name suggests that you may encounter Raccoons on the Mountain.

Finally got around to moving the tag. I apologize for the sideways pics taken on my I-phone. I have tried to rotate and save, copy and paste, etc. and they still get saved sideways on my laptop. I'm sure there is a way or an app. but I've lost my patience!
First pic is the old tag @ Racoon Mtn. Second and third pic are the new tag. Meriwether Lewis burial site on the Natchez Trace Pkwy. Hope your ride up or down the trace is a traffic/ranger free as our was ;)!

This one laid dormant long enough. I needed to 'test' my new PR3s on SweetTreat before WeSTVaSToc and this was as good an excuse as any. If you can't figure it out, go looking for Colonel Littleton or Milky Way. ;-) By the way, when you pick up this tag, you might want to step next door and get a 'little' snack like in the other pictures (double 1/2 pounder bacon cheeseburger - 2 1/2 pound patties of meat) -

Well Janis and I were looking for a place to ride on this beautiful Saturday, so we hopped on the Wing and took a little trip around Middle TN. When someone goes to move the new tag, I suggest you stay long enough to enjoy the smothered pork chop that you can cut with your fork. We didn't move it far, but at least it moved.

Got out and moved the TN tag this weekend. I was wanting to move it further East but time did not allow for a longer ride.
Old tag...
New Tag... there are some good roads in the area, Hwy 96 and 264 would be fun getting there and Sykes Rd. on the way out...however you get there enjoy!

pretty sure that is on the Cosby Highway between Newport and Gatlinburg just on the outskirts of Gatlinburg. Lot of wood carving stores and crafts through there and that looks like the Highway in the background. I may be wrong. I don't live far from there myself.

If it's just outside of Gatlinburg, it's just 175 miles out. :D

Oh, I got these pictures off of Google Street View. I haven't picked up the tag yet.

May have made this too easy but they got good food, cheap, and a camp ground to boot! Let me know and will meet you there sometime for some fish and hush puppies! Maybe a future RTE?

After a huge late breakfast of "Hen fruit and Pig meat" (in honor of UP's birthday) at Patty's in Smithville we were deciding where to ride. Checked the TN tag location, what better place to ride to than Tellico Plains on a cool Saturday? After we picked up the tag and checking a couple local spots out we headed back home on Hwy 39 and then Hwy 30.:) The local LEO's were kind so the fun factor was high!
The pictures reversed so...
New Tag...just about any road getting here will put a smile on your face as long as you don't take 111
and Old Tag...

Here's the old. This was too easy.

Here's the new. I had to change bikes, but I still rode to the tag.
