On this forum? Hah!I was hoping someone would interpret it in the way it was intended.
All kidding aside it does look nice. Are the holes actually vent holes? Needed for welding tubing? Mounting holes for a topbox? Please keep us abreast of your install.Just recieved this rear rack for my st1100. Its beautiful! Cant wait to install-it for rhe spring trip!
No they're for putting in rubber spacers so the top box doesn't rattle. Real pain to put them in too! I'm a bit pissed at the moment it's been a week of frustration with that thing!!!!!All kidding aside it does look nice. Are the holes actually vent holes? Needed for welding tubing? The concept is brilliant. I was in the process of making special dry bags to fit on the racks, but holding off for a bit.I really dig the concept
Now THAT's a rack ! I should have had a rack like that on my '71 XL-250 when I carried home a bale of hay . That rack was 1/4th the size of this one !This is a neat rack. Found the web page and see that you can also get one that allows you to mount a GIVI over the passenger seat vs. the usual rear mount.
They added 2 additional mounting points (6 vs. 4). Only caveat here would be to not overload the standard 4 points as the sub frame supporting this has a tendency to crack if overloaded.![]()
Yes, they are. Im gonna try lubing them w dish detergent. No they're for putting in rubber spacers so the top box doesn't rattle. Real pain to put them in too! I'm a bit pissed at the moment it's been a week of frustration with that thing!!!!!
That is not good news. Thanks for the heads up!Well my experience with them has not been great. I'm in negotiation to get my money back. The right rear mount does not line up with the hole in the tail section. It is off by 7mm. I can't open my right pannier as the cross piece intefers with the latch and prevents it from opening. Had to struggle to mount the front of the rack to the frame. The bolts supplied are too long. The latch for the top case is too far forward so the top box won't can't latch. The only way is to grind the holes back 5mm to reposition the latch so it allow the top box to lie flat. My friend in Manitoba also had issues with the latch for his GIVI top box, he also had to force it to match the mounting holes.
It's a great concept, Mine was probably built on a Friday.![]()

U can. The rack comes perfectly designed for drybags over the panniersThat stinks. I really dig the concept of being able to strap tent, chair or whatever above the saddle bags.
I. Just looked at mine. Being the cheapscate that i am, id cut the metal cross straps off and install som sort of webbing or nylon strapping. U can move them wherever you want anf it probably, with a bit of thinking they could look really cool.I know it sounds silly but have you thought about taking some good measurements and take it to a local welder who can cut the tabs, realign everything and weld it back together? Sucks to have to spend more money on something that should have been good right out of the box.
The rack cost me $360 Canadian shipping portion was $100. That’s a lot of coin. Yes and add an hour of a welders time and then have it powder coated again?I know it sounds silly but have you thought about taking some good measurements and take it to a local welder who can cut the tabs, realign everything and weld it back together? Mine was $213 us dollars. Got it in two weeks! I was shocked! The little givi ones were $90! So, i pulled the trigger! The rack cost me $360 Canadian shipping portion was $100. That’s a lot of coin. Yes and add an hour of a welders time and then have it powder coated again?
I can easily mark where the new positions of the bracket and cross members go and I have the old tail frame for reference.
We’ve been communicating via ebay for the past week, it’s been entertaining. I hope to have this resolved soon
