Thursday January 16th Café.

This literally sounded like us last summer prepping for our overseas cruise. She was stressing over the airline's (Iceland Air) ever-shrinking luggage requirements (she was using a tape measure!) and what to pack for the weather in EVERY city we were visiting (she ended up being very wrong...huh). Me? I packed the night before, made sure I had extra room for souvenirs (eh, partly bc I left out a bunch of shirts...went 11 days with 3 shirts!) and was stress-free. Hope your trip is just as well.

18/-8 down in the great icelands of SoMD when I shuffled into the kitchen for my morning joe (thank you!). Didn't make it to the office yesterday, so gotta be quick to get out the door today. Take care y'all!
You & I pack very similar!

Good morning, and thanks for the coffee start, Ray.

It's 18 and sunny in MA this morning, rising to 30, later. Winds will be 10-15mph.

Yesterday's prediction came true, and I only visited the gym.
Our contractors were working in the kitchen and bathroom most of the day, installing a safety bar in the shower, and trim in the kitchen.
They'll be back on Friday to finish.
Since they were working in the kitchen, Brenda rested, so she stayed out of their way.

Today, she'll be back to shelf paper, and I MAY get to bring things in from the trailer outside.

Enjoy the day,
Steve

Yes, I believe a tape measure may have been involved, or at least a yardstick. She's changed tactics, though, and is now packing a larger bag to be checked. That adds space for souvenirs, or so she says. We'll see.

My bag of choice is a mesh duffel bag intended for SCUBA gear. It's large but malleable, weighs virtually nothing, has straps that let me wear it like a backpack... perfect. It'll probably be a carry on bag, since virtually everything I'm taking is summer weight, quick drying fabric.

You should verify any monies hidden for the trip, in order to prevent the forgotten hiding spaces issue from the last time. :)

Good morning, Still alive, had a Heart biopsy yesterday, I don't like it. Hurts. 10 to 15 minutes yeah right,6 hours later. Needless to say won't be doing anything today but napping and eating. Really questioning the medical doctor.'s logic. I have blood cancer, treat that first then find out what got damaged from it. Yeah I'm not liking getting poked and proded. Rant over. Now what to eat.

Sausages?

As far as I know, she has not gotten any of the local currencies. Evidently gratuities in USD are perfectly acceptable, provided that they're fresh crisp bills.

Morning all! Sausages, leather and probing....I may have wandered into the wrong corner of the innerwebs....uh.....it's just starting to get light out and it should be a nice day with some sun and a high of 8C. Right now it's 5C.

I'm working from home today so no commute which gives me more time to procrastinate from starting work. One good thing about working in the office, you know what you're there to do and you do it because there is nothing else....well, less else with which to distract yourself.

Re: motorcycle pants, I went with textile and immediately took out the insulated liners. I have sufficient insulation under the skin thank you. That's been an ongoing issue throughout life; I can never find apparel that breathes adequately. When it says it breathes it means that I will be bathed in a gentle shower as opposed to a monsoon. I come from a long line of sweaters and not the comfy to wear type. Anything above 20C and I turn into a sprinkler.

Gerard that does not sound like a fun procedure at all. Hopefully it leaves no ill lasting effects and the results come back positive.....errr....negative?....no......positive for you.....negative for any illness.

Right, enough procrastination, best get to work, it's a long commute to the back shed. Hope everyone has a great day and sprinkles some joy (Nothing else, golden or otherwise) through their lives!

Yes, I keep things simple and squishable. Sadly, my go-to travel suitcase of 20+ years (modified with smooooth roller blade wheels) has been made mostly obsolete thanks to said shrinking size limits. As noted, Check those pockets for items that TSA may not like you carrying...or just things they want to keep for themselves.

Morning Ray & All from sunny, but COLD, Southern Utah!

Currently it is 14F, up from 9F, and heading for 49F. No breeze right now, but later the winds will be out of the WNW @ 5 to 7 mph.

All of this talk about sausages, thanks but I prefer BACON! :)

Yesterday was a full day of motorcycle maintenance and a quick trip to make sure all was well. It was. I changed the oil on the :dr13:, then filled the tires (both were a bit low) with my new portable air pump that my son gave me for Christmas. It really is great to have. No more pulling out the little air compressor, cord, hose, etc. :hat3: After riding out for lunch, testing my electrics, making sure I'll be warm for my ride, and filling up the bike with gas for a ride today, I modified my tankbag to hold the electric's controllers (a dual controller for the liner & gloves, and a single for the heated saddle) on the outside, instead of having to leave them in the middle of the tankbag's zipper.

I've got a route drawn out that would take me some 250 miles.

But I'm thinking by the time I get out of here, do a stop for Chris and get on the road, it'll be around Noon before my ride starts, so 250 miles will be a little aggressive. So I just might ride down to ZION and ride that area that is shut off during the Summer to vehicles, but is open now. I haven't been in that part of the park since I was a kid.

ZION-Restricted.jpg
After going thru ZION, I'll decide if I have the time or not, if not, I'll head back thru the park and head home. It'll still be a good ride for the day! :thumbsup-2x:

Eggs, BACON, toast & OJ to start the morning, Pepsi(s) for later.

Anyone (like me) :dr13:, have a great day on the roads! :hat3:

At least they're neatly...

;)

I made a redneck hotdog cooker back in my youth. Damned dangerous though....

Two wooden uprights on a wooden base, a nail protruding thru each upright. A hot dog was suspended between the 2 nails, with each nail stuck into the opposite ends of the hotdog. Attached to each of the nails was one wire of a 120v 2 prong plug. You plugged it in, didn't touch anything metal or meaty, and let the current running thru the hotdog (resistor) heat it up and cook it. When you thought it was done (or when it blew apart), you unplugged the plug from the wall, and "enjoyed" your hot hotdog. It wasn't exactly hot all the way thru, nor tasty, but it was quite quick. :)

Something akin to this:

Just remember kids: don't try this $h1t at home! Ask a parent first.

Morning all, still here, just lazy I guess.
Thanks for the start up.
Sorry for the pokes and prods. And any other ailments out there.

Pic of the ski hill from yesterday. Blue bird day. Made the most runs of the year, 9. Each is about 1800 feet of vertical drop.
And yes, getting off the pot can be a struggle after a day like yesterday. Still, better than a day in the office.....

Hope everyone is well and happy.
