Good morning everyone

There's fresh hot French roast coffee in the pot, ready to be shared with my friends. Please enjoy some and tell us about your day.

It's 39°F in Rockville and mostly clear. We had showers through the evening yesterday so it's likely a bit on the damp side right now, but I'm told "There will be mostly sunny skies. The high will be 44°F." so there's hope for a pleasant sort of day.

First on the agenda, after uke practice that is, is a trip to the tire shop to drop off Mrs. Fun's car so it can be fitted with fresh rubber. Having traveled just 35,000 miles or so her current tires are far from treadless but they're also OEM, and have thus been in service for a decade. That makes it time for new ones, apparently.

After that, I may try to muster the energy and enthusiasm to string some holiday lights in the bushes in front of the house. I'm not really one who goes in for ephemeral yard decorations, nor widespread decorative lighting, but Mrs. Fun wants it done so... "make it so".

Somewhere during the day I'll finish watching season 1 of The Diplomat on Netflix. It's been pretty entertaining so far, with loads of plot twists and turns, across two (or three?) primary story lines / arcs, each of which is tightly interwoven with the others to form a rich, multilayered whole.

Finally, this evening is the monthly meeting of the neighborhood's private membership-by-invitation-only scotch, pretzels, and chitchat appreciation society. That'll keep me busy until close to bedtime, probably.

Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love them.

Thx Mr. Fun for the FR, hits the spot!

Another do nothing day. Maybe I'll go out to the garage and get a suntan welding a bit!

Still waiting on my IFS parts, gotta call them again today.

Thinking about getting one of those Laser cleaners. Don't know if residential current can power the thing though.

Hugs to y'all!

Have a great day!

Ta me duck. A cup of the finest is definitely required. Our own Dark Italian Roast is but a memory.
It's definitely like winter, cool, windy and brrrrrrrr. Although pleasantly dry and sunnylicious.
Yesterdays foray into retail confusion went well enough, there will be presents under the tree and my brain seemed inspired by The Dirty Bottles period of cell lubrication. I can recommend it.
Alnwick upon the Aln was predictably busy but thankfully a table awaited me at Carlo's for award winning fish and chips. The diet is going really well, I've put on 8 Ibs in a week.
Some car stuff may happen here too, rechecking the torque of the recently removed FNS wheel and Er'Indoors number plate screws look badly corroded. Then we'll see.
That seems great mileage out of the tyres but they must be shot because of age. You wouldn't get more than five years out of a set here, whether it's the salt, wet, farmers crap or a combination of all of them I don't know but they just fall apart.
Av a gud un and remember, don't stand under the tree.

good morning all. thank you Keith for the coffee. 51F on the dog walk with a bright moon to provide light and a bunch of stars in a clear sky to enjoy as a back drop. yesterdays Christmas party at the gym went well. today seems open so I'll see what I can do to fill it with something consecutive like wash the car or take the bike for a ride. I guess I could do both. the high should see 80F. wash the car this morning and ride in the afternoon. sounds like a plan. enjoy the day

stay safe

Thanks, Keith.

Sitting at a coffee shop in Athens, Greece right now, awaiting the arrival of Anna from Anna’s Walk. We’re doing Xmas here, just for a year end holiday.

I’m having an “Americana Double”, which is apparently a cup of coffee. Strong but not overwhelming. Also granola and yogurt. Outside café all along this semi Main Street, always busy. Everyone smokes.

The Acropolis is visible at a distance from the main drag just a block away. Just one of the many places we’ll visit.

Many, many motos and scooters. I’ve seen more old TransAlps than anything else.

Weather is great right now, about 60f with clear skies and sun. Rain coming in a couple days.

As always, CAREFUL ON THE R!!!!

That's because not only am I just a mere member myself, I'm also the newest addition. Apparently there's a limit of three members at a time and I filled the vacancy created when another member moved out of the neighborhood.

I'll tell you what, though: I'll propose you as a substitute for me while I'm away next month and February. No promises as to whether the Membership Committee will consider, accept, or act on my recommendation, though.

Thx Keith!
May I please be second in line as substitute?

I really liked The Diplomat.
They may have had a Wooler lad in mind when creating the british Prime minister.

Today has been a lot of errands already, including getting a new passport for Mrs Stu.

5˚c/41f, 35mph wind from west, increasing to 70mph later……rain.

@George don’t drink and walk when in Athens….

Have a good one!
Stu

Morning all, and thanks for the coffee and non-invite excuses, Keith.

I'm not offended. Ray can go hug a cactus.

1C and mostly raining, although there's likely mixed precipitation places I was not this morning. 3C will is the expected high with more rain. It was another cage day, as I fear the next4-5 months will be. I drove my new car, awhile the Mrs. is driving the rental while hers is in the shop. They gave us a Ford Bronco Sport, but it's deceiving. Under the hood is a little 3 cylinder engine. I think my bicycle has more torque. :)

Still, it has heat, and moves under the power of incinerating dead prehistoric animals, so I guess that's OK.

Hope everyone has a great day, even the cacti huggers.

Obo.

Ta me rubber duck. The coffee is fantabulous Kieth,.
Christmas coming soon, yeow.
But I do like home made pies, Pfffffffffftttttt. I looked in the mirror for the beauty. No, still not here.
Today has started with warming, gloomin' skies, mild and a skiff of wind to gently stir the leaves. We may see 66. I crave some gelato today, we'll be off to Navarre on the Gulf Beach where they produced the fresh seafood fritters.
No real cold weather forecast yet. Pfffffffttttttpowwwy. I'm sure the 80's will be here again in February, it's blummin twisty then!
Av a gud un, stuff a Guy and make sure you've got wood for the bonfire. Av a handle on a rocket too!

Good morning, all, and thanks for the coffee, Keith!

Still not too cold this morning, but we've already reached the high of -1°C/30°F with a feels-like of -5°C/23°F; from here, the temps will drop to well below freezing. Mix of sun and clouds today, changing to full cloud at some point. Much colder tomorrow, with snow coming from tomorrow aft through most of Saturday.
Counting today, only 3 more days of work until the much anticipated holiday break; I'll be boarding my flight to Florida on Christmas Day, back on Jan. 3.

Everyone have a great day, stay safe and go safely.

Patty

G'Day...

awe... coffee... :coffee:
already on my 3rd mug today... o_O

morning 2°C and fog, vis about 800m/~1/2 a mile... British... humid... ghastly... won't see over 7°C today, gray overcast... yeah, "fake news" of course... pfffff...

Just "brilliant" the >40% drivers who thought it a smart idea to have their rear fog lamps on... that such is only to be used in vis below 50m/160ft is totally out-worldly...

Great also those, obvious inexpensive hence poorly designed LED headlights, their "low" doesn't aim down as technically more complex designed bi-lux, H4 or projector lens types, nah, like the old sealed-beam design the LED's glare aims always straight across the full opening... oncoming they create a white curtain in the fog, like a white bed-sheet you've to dive through, blindly...
Car makers must save billions by omitting the illuminant shielding or any measures for a proper downward aim of the "low" beam... but of course, "fake news"... pfffff...

Er'Indoors
Care to elaborate that nick you like to address your partner with there?
I call my GF "Schlunz" which is a local tongue abrasive/substitute for doze/ing (like a cat they can sleep up to 20hrs/day... in any place, in any position, ignoring their ambience entirely...)

Anyway, thankfully its Friday tomorrow, last working day till Jan 7th...

cheers!

Just as well. Not sure I'd want to be part of any club that would accept me as a member. -- Groucho Marx, maybe? Someone can correct me; I'm used to correction.

Thanks for the coffee Keith. It's cold outside, so I'm going to drink inside so it stays warmer longer. 46 after the rains and drizzles last night, might see the mid-50s today, but I never will see the mid-50s again, at least not in birthdays. Maybe while I'm riding in traffic... or maybe on my next IQ test.

I'm up earlier this morning, not from mind hamsters, but by going to bed earlier last night, so for those of you who suffer that cerebral rodent infestation, I found a bunch of quotes for you about relaxation, calm, reducing anxiety and all of that... but most sounded too new-agey, or zen or zao-ist, including one by Oprah who I don't like much, so I found this one, by a guy I don't remember...

The ideal of calm exists in a sitting cat.
Jules Renard
And as I live with 3 cats, or they with me, that one works. Then again, as most cats have little heads, they can't really be thinking all that much about anything. Can they...? Wonder why ole Jules didn't mention laying down cats? No matter.

So, what for today? Finishing client projects at the office, dinner with friends tonight, birthday party for nephew's 2yo daughter Saturday, and other stuff will come up I'm sure. One thing that won't come up for sure, unless I do it myself, is getting rid of all those holly limbs I raked off the sidewalk. But it is already dark when I get home from work, and those sinister stickers will do everything they can to poke me even with heavy gloves on, so I'd best dispose of them when I can see.

Found another off-road training camp yesterday, it's in British Columbia and only costs 5000 dollars for a week. Hmmm. Another item for the "gee-I-wish list."

So there it is, the news from Lake Woebegone, where the women are strong, the men are good looking, and all the children are above average. (with credit to Garrison Keillor.)

Good morning, and thanks for the coffee start, Keith.

It's sunny and 35, going to 41 later, with a cloud or two forecast.

Yesterday, I made it to the gym, and spent the rest of the day poking about.
Oil was changed in the truck, and I'm good to go for a few more miles.
Once Brenda arrived home, we did some shopping for catfood and ice cream, and went to dinner at our local Mexican place, but not in that order.
We heard no one yelling "¡Arriba! ¡Arriba! ¡Ándale! ¡Yeppa!" while we were there...
No Broncos, either.

Today, I'll take Brenda's car to the shop to have her check engine light fixed.
The shop's on the way to the gym, so I'll head there, next.
I still need to get started Christmas shopping for Brenda.

Enjoy the day,
Steve
