Things to Check on ST1300 for FI Light Code 26

Robbie, this thread is like reading a book and the last chapter is missing! Did you figure this out?
Unfortunately no. I still have the FI light coming on issue. It hadn't come on since April when I went to GA-STOC. Then last weekend I went for a ride up to the Blue Ridge Parkway. After about 2 1/2 hours of riding it started coming on again. Yesterday I was on my way up to the Blue Ridge Gathering in Hot Springs NC and the bike died after riding about 150 miles. I think the alternator went (which I'll have to confirm). After waiting for 3 hours in the rain on the side of I-40, I got towed to a safe place. Today I went and trailered it home.

I'm sorry to hear you had that problem and will be interested to know if the dead bike is due to the Alternator and unrelated to the F1 light issue.

Ouch. Your patience must be worn by now. Good luck!
I’m starting the journey and have recruited my mechanics to work with me. Hoping with my research and his knowledge and tools we can figure it out.

The alternator checked out fine, so I'm not sure exactly why the bike died. I had just installed a brand new battery. When I got the bike home, the battery was dead and it took all night to recharge it on a battery tender (at least partially because I had the 4 way flashers on for quite a while when I was on the side of the road). It could possibly be a bad battery, but it checks out and seems okay now. The kill switch was engaged when I got it home which may have gotten hit during loading and unloading the bike twice getting it home. Or it's possible I hit it inadvertently when riding and this whole thing was an episode of user error/stupidity (hope not :(). Looking back on how events turned out with Hurricane Helene in western NC, I might claim it was a bit of divine intervention.

An update - I was able to get a used ECU off of eBay for a fair price and installed it a few days ago. According to the seller, it was from a 2007 with 39k miles. A month ago (with the old ECU), I did a 69 mile ride (round trip) to a local state park. On the way back, the FI light came on. Today, I did the same ride with the new ECU and the FI light didn't come on! I'm hopeful this has finally solved the code 25/26 issue for me. Time will tell.

Going through the same issue with a 2004 GL 1800 Trike. Did the ghost wire modification, light still comes on! OH well, bike starts and runs very well getting about 30 mpg (us gal). I am going to count on one of the tools that I carry (towing clause on insurance) and ride it until it starts to show signs of going south, such as stalling, losing power etc.
