Thermostat Replacement Following Service Manual or Shortcuts

I’m a new member as well and never posted before. I am trying to chase down a coolant leak and starting from the front, replacing the thermostat and O rings/ gasket. Could you send me the pdf please?
Thank you.
PM me your preferred email address to receive them. The pdfs are too large to send in a PM.

My '05 1300 has been between 1-3 bars on the coolant temp gauge in the late fall/winter months, and so I am preparing to remove and inspect/replace the thermostat. I have successfully removed the radiator, and it appears that I can simply unbolt a metal brace-looking part on the frame and access the t-stat housing that way. However, the shop manual recommends removing the throttle body(!) and removing all connecting hoses to the t-stat housing. Is this actually necessary? I have fooled myself by taking shortcuts before, so I was curious to hear the experience of others before I start pulling parts.
Just did mine from the front , not a big deal.

Hi @dduelin

I had a request for the thermostat replacement shortcut pdf. I bought a 2003 ST1300 with 34k. Everything is running good on bike. I am flushing all the coolant and was considering replacing the thermostat for precautionary reasons. Unfortunately I am not able to PM you. I appreciate any help you can offer. Thank You.

Basically, removing the radiator will give you all the room necessary. It's about 1/2 day job for someone that hasn't done it before.

That is what I had seen from my research. I finished rebuilding the leaking front forks. I upgraded to race tech springs with the help of a friend. Today I completed the 7 step break bleed and have all new brake fluid. I aligned the front axle as shown in the animated video following all the steps. The left front brake caliper is rubbing on the rotor with the new front Honda brake pads that I installed. I can turn the front tire by hand but it does rub. I am not sure if the brake pads will wear down a little bit and correct the problem.

I was hoping for the steps to remove the radiator. I was thinking in my head that I should empty the radiator. Feel it with fresh water. Run it for a bit to flush out the old coolant. Then drain. And finally remove the radiator and then tackle the thermostat. Does that sound about right?
