Well! That's all I'm gonna get that's for sure! Enjoy!

OK, had to get out and knock off some of them SoCal Muffler Men. First off, lemme tell ya, Carson, East Los Angeles, and El Monte are not near the top of the list for prime riding destinations around here. :p: That's why early Sunday morning turned out to be the time to do this.

North on the I-405 from the OC got me to just before the I-110. On the south side of the freeway he's sitting on the golf course overlooking the freeway. That's why the picture is from a ways away at the course parking lot. I wasn't gonna be stopping on the shoulder of the freeway for a pic. :D I've probably driven past this one about half a zillion times. Soon as I saw it I said, " :doh1: "

Then a quick jot back to the north I-710 and up to East LA. This was just a block or so west of the freeway. You can see my gangbanger brothers misspelled STOC on the wall there.: This is at Tony's Transmissions.

The third one is at the El Monte sign company and is inside their fenced yard with equipment parked in front of it. Turns out this was about a mile from the house where I grew up. Probably sittin' there the whole time. :)

After the freeways-and-muffler-men part of the ride I headed on up and rode the Angeles Crest Highway. Oh yeah, it's great to have that road back.

Oh well, this is a repeater. :| (So don't send me the multi-million $$ Grand Prize yet :D) Motomac got this one in Escondido early on. It is unique that this one's still in the muffler business. Had a great ride out through Julian and Anza Borrego, etc. Beautiful day.

They must have donated the 'E' to the Escondido sign . . .

Now I thought for sure you would have this Rt 66 icon in the thread already, but I did not see it--the Gemini Giant from the Launching Pad in Wilmington, IL. BTW, that's me on the right, but alas, the ST in the photo belongs to the guy who snapped the photo. My '07 was just to the right.

funny, I never even knew we had this here in Bakersfield. I checked the link in the first post, looking for something close by, and, as luck would have it, we had one!
This was my first stop on my EPIC ride today. The kid on the Ninja is my bosse's son, Brenner. I told him I planned on stopping there, and he swore up and down there was no Indian there.
There is also a plaque with a witty little poem about it's history.

Also got these two, not muffler men but close. The Indian carving is one of more than 50 around the country. I'll post a link to their locations soon's I find the info. The skier is an ad for a MI ski resort.

I went halfway down the Pacific Coast Highway in Oregon and had such a great ride that I extended it further southward to get through Myrtle Point and Grants Pass. I had some 'muffler men' identified in those towns on the chance I'd get that far south. :)

In Myrtle Point OR, here's the one at the Coos County Logging Museum:

As I rolled into Grants Pass OR on I-5, I spied these oversized stainless steel figures so I pulled off to look. As I took the offramp and stopped at the first light, I was rewarded with this big surprise at the Chamber of Commerce:

On roadside america's website, they showed two muffler men in Grants Pass...but the one in the SE section of town along Hwy 99 is no longer there.

This muffler man still exists in Grants Pass, in the SW side of town along Redwood Ave:

And my last Muffler Man from my Pacific NW trip ... found in Helper City UT (what a town name!).

The area is has a strong coal mining history, with a number of roadside displays of old mining equipment and mills.

I spent 21 years in the Hampton Roads area of the Old Dominion before going back to Ohio in '95 and got back to the old hood today. This fella has been holding that muffler on Jefferson Ave in Newport News for as long as I can remember.

Not gonna check 150 prior posts to see if this is new or not, but found it over a week ago north of Cody Wyoming:

Went on a ride to capture the closest Muffler Man to me. It's the one located in Elkhart, IN at the Ace Hardware store on 1635 Cassopolis St.
The Bucket of paint has been removed, but otherwise the same.

Womantriker and I found this guy hoding an RV in his hand in Hatch NM this morning. NIce '55 Mercury in the lot behind him. They were closed so we didn't inquire. I went to my Prom in a '54 Merc.

Here is my pic of the muffler man in San Jose. I didn't see anyone get this photo. This guy is special because he still has his muffler.
