The Future of Motorcycles

Either you are talking about a subject you lack a basic understanding of or worse you are intentionally deceptive, there is a wee bit of difference between climate and weather.
I enjoy a good healthy debate, but thus type of response is how threads are shut down.
Make a point, back it up, but there is no need to make it personal.
And if you think you will change hearts and minds with reason, logic or facts, I can tell you from personal experience, it doesn't work that way.
You won't find many who are more logical and reasoned, than I am, but i will defend your right to disagree with me. Even when you are wrong. :rofl1:o

Where do you get your information from?
From some of those doctors and nurses and virologists who have had their LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook accounts SHUT DOWN. They worked in hospitals and clinics and reported treatments and findings that contradicted what was allowed to be said, or published.
I knew several who were FIRED for their dissent, and those do not include the people I know who lost their careers over it, or those who lost jobs because they would not take the jab.
It's not my job to persuade anyone, but no one can make me un-know what I know.

Well yes, I understand. But without being able to follow up on these reports they remain hearsay, nothing more. Now for people to lose their jobs by not being vaccinated...? Well I know some of these too, only if your job demands a vaccine and you refuse, then don´t be surprised if you get your heinie slung out on the street. I am not seeing the problem here.
And what have vaccines to do with the future of motorbikes?

You can disagree with with me and prove me to be wrong but I am not willing to accept a BS word salad for the sake of decorum.

I am not a lawyer, and this is not a court of law.
Yet I will maintain, no one can make me un-know what I know, and the truth doesn't change itself to fit anyone's agenda.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but real scientist-y folk are worried
If I lived near the coast in Florida I would be listing my property for sale because it won’t be long before it will flooded, especially around Miami. Antartica is also shedding ice at record rates, then there the disappearing mountain glaciers in Europe and North America but everything is unfolding according to plan :(

You're still operating on the mistaken belief that I feel the need to prove something.
Not my job, and not my desire.
I simply share what I know to be true, and I frequently share my opinions... and when necessary I'll distinguish the difference.
My reason for engaging here is to foster discussion, and if that brings disagreement I'm ok with that. I can and do defend my position, so that people will recognize when I'm not slinging BS.
There are times when I do offer to add fertilizer to the garden, but this isn't one of them.
The entire future of our planet, our civilization, our livelihoods and prosperity, and our health and well-being are all at risk due to those selfish, narcissistic and tyrannical people and organizations who insist on controlling all the rest of us. They already control the minds of many who are ignorant and live in perpetual fear, which is what allows the doomsday machine to flourish and spread.
But it's unnecessary.

Why is it then, that the wealthiest among the climate cultists own multi-million-dollar beachfront properties?
Because THEY don't believe the crap they preach.
Obama.
Kerry.
Biden.
DiCaprio.
There are many more. Why do they own / invest in luxury seaside real estate - are they suicidal?

"sea levels are now rising at a rate of 3.7 mm (0.146 inches) per year."

"Melting of the polar ice sheets has caused a 21 mm rise in global sea level since 1992"

Or maybe the plates are sinking....

Small numbers, over a short time slice, on a global scale....

Well right back at you there. :) The problem with truth is that it is... well... the Truth! But you are very wrong in thinking that people like myself who acknowledge Climate change wish to make you un-know anything. Quite on the contrary, it is my firm belief that if you don´t understand both sides of the argument then you are not qualified to voice an opinion, now I did my best with the understanding that I have and over and over again I come to the conclusion that I am not a scientist but the arguments on global climate change are overwhelmingly pointing to a man made climate change for the worst.

I'm beginning to regret starting this thread. I just thought the article to which I posted a link was interesting to this group because it was motorcycle related. Oh dear...
Well don´t be. It is a topic of great interest and long may this thread live.
It just shows however how polarized a society can become when facts are "adapted" to confirm ones bias.

Life is short.
No regrets.
(Wait... there was an article...?)

I wonder what they will use for lubricating oil in these new non fossil fuel motorcycles.... and what will they make tires out of since rubber is a hydrocarbon too....

:bigpop:

That article illustrates that climate change knowledge is quite cloudy. Regardless of reality re climate, I do think its cool to consider developing technical possibilities which show promise toward making our lives and our ecosystems cleaner and healthier. "Electricity too cheap to meter"? bring it on! I prefer to be optimistic about the future, not fearful of environmental catastrophe. At least I have grandkids who ride dirtbikes!

"Electricity too cheap to meter". Could have been done, could still be done, nuclear fuel is cheap. Nuclear power could be very cheap (compared to fossil) except for all the rules and regulations and stuff. From the link below:

Fuel costs for nuclear plants are a minor proportion of total generating costs, though capital costs are greater than those for coal-fired plants and much greater than those for gas-fired plant

System costs for nuclear power (as well as coal and gas-fired generation) are very much lower than for intermittent renewables

In my opinion nuclear power is the safest way to produce electricity. It's is expensive to build these power plants because of all the issues the owners have to go through to build the plant. Not "issues" not design problems.

Nuclear power plants are the same as fossil power plants expect for the fuel. And yes there is waste disposal not much but still some. Foissle fuel plants have waster disposal issues as well.

The main thing that stands in the way of nuclear power plants dotting the landscape instead of fossil plants are the "anti-nukes".

Nuclear Power Economics

why the consensus on nuclear power is wrong

Which Industry Offers The Safest Jobs In America:

Just one tidbit on "safety". How many of you use three point contact in climbing a ladder or climbing stairs (were possible)?

Actually now that Germany has idiotically decommissioned all nuke plants it turns out that the highest running costs by far are in the dismantling, re-cycling and the safe storage of ionizing material. So, that means that if you factor the cost of over a billion a pop to tear the things down and the 10 to 20 years the dismantling will take, then "Electricity too cheap to meter" is going to be a myth.

Catcher, the cloudy is the middle 90% of population, hey, that even includes many climate scientists. The other 10% go hard one way or the other.
I'm quite happy to be stuck in the middle hoping I'll be riding something in my dotage.
Whether I can or cannot afford to power the thing or whether the oceans will lap at my door, I have little or no control of.
Ride when you can, it'll be over all too soon.
Upt.
