Terry 'ACL' Hammond (11/19/2010)

I am so shocked with this news...... We are all in shock.
Thoughts and prayers to the Hammonds from the O'Bryants.

I'm really sorry I never got to meet him. From everything he wrote.. I just KNEW I was going to like him.. Dammit. Sorry for everyones loss.. and mine.

We all feel the same. We have lost a member of our family. I did have the good fortune to meet Terry and spend some time with him.

Rest assured his light has not gone out. We will all carry his light with us.

Thank you John. Those are very, very comforting words. And true.

I can't believe this news. I feel a great sadness even though I never met Terry in person. Actually I was hoping to one day, on this side however.

I feel like I knew him through our interactions here on the site and think we would have gotten on well.

God bless and keep you Terry. And I pray he will look after your family and give them peace.

Our family is indeed missing a huge part of what made it whole.

Ride free and ride long friend.

I am totally stunned and have few words.
All my best to TLC and Terry's family...
Also, all my best to the rest of this group, we have truly lost a great member of our family.

Godspeed Terry Hammond. You were an original, a gem, a human being I am so glad I met in the flesh. My heart aches.

Noooooooooooooooooooooooo,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

I'll miss him:bow1::bow1::bow1:

I have only tears...

Just yesterday I read Terry's post regarding the death of Medicine Bear. Terry's words were these:

"Here is a poem that came to me in church one Sunday and I was almost made,,, to write it down... This is the exact words I wrote on the back of my program that day... Many I know,,, Ride Along with me,,, and Fred/Medicine Bear' will also be along with me too...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We all know someone,,, Who No Longer Rides With the Wind…
It may be their Decision,,, or it was Death that Brought the Riding to an End…
Because of the Curves you shared,,, or the Sunsets you both took in,,, just take a Moment and Remember that they now Ride only Within…
When you are Standing at the Summit of Montana’s Glacier Park…
Enjoying the Curves of the Blue Ridge Parkway’s Smoky Beauty as the fog rolls into itself…
Or when you smell the Ocean Breeze on Highway # 1 along the California Coast…
Just know where ever you are they Too,,, are Riding Along With the Wind…
Our lives are just as long as a Blink,,, in the Big Cosmic Time-line Thing…
We all can strive that we make a difference in others Lives and that we bring Happiness to them…
So when our time is over,,, and we are not riding anymore…
We all can just hope to be carried along,,, to again,,, Ride along with the Wind..."
Terry was one of those rare people who could make everyone around him feel like they were special. We have all lost a brother!!
Amen, Coop.
I am speechless..my heart hurts...the loss cannot be measured. Prayers to Cindy,Macey, and
Mitch, his sisters and all here in his extended family. Ever moment we spent with him was a
blessing...his energy will drive us forever.
Ride the wind Terry...Godspeed
There will never be another like ACL. And as it has been said when you talked with Terry he made you feel that you are the most important person in his life.
I'm surely blessed to have known him. My prayers go out to all his family and everyone who's life he has touched.
There is going to be a big hole on the STOC board.
God speed ACL, we are going to miss you. :)
One thing Terry would always say to a lot of LD riders, "I want to be just like you when I grow up." I always laughed at that, because Terry was one of those guys. He did like to get up and go, but Terry always took the time to smell the roses along the way. I always was inspired by that. You can ride a million miles, but did you take the time to watch the sunset over Glacier Park? Terry did and tonight as I tip my soda back as he did, I'll think of him, Putt and all the others that have passed that I known.
I just opened this email from Terry two days ago:
Like a few others have said. I never got a chance to meet him in person but we would talk quite a bit between posts and PMs.
He will be missed.
I'll bet Putt will show him all the good roads up there.
