Hi, I've own st1100, the bike not been on the road 11 years, one problem left to fix, the temperature gauge doesn't show work properly, when I'm on the motorway don't go up to right, when engine running a while the gauge is going up and the cooling fan kick , i think the problem will be with thermostat? Thanks for the any thoughts.

If the fan is coming on when the needle is vertical, or just past vertical to the right, as seen in your photo, then that is normal. It should never go into the red though.

Definitely do a cooling system flush and install new coolant (Honda Type 2 is best choice), if that hasn't been done already.

As per Bush, if you're running in clear air it'll stay in the lower 3rd. If in traffic it will climb to half and above with the fan kicking in when the needle is roughly straight up. In exceptional heat the needle could rise to the red but shouldn't enter into it. If you change the coolant use Honda Type 2, car or bike doesn't matter, it's the same stuff. Your local Honda car dealer or Honda Blackpool Motorcycles (if they're still there) will have it.
Hope that helps.
Upt'North.
