Is there clearance to swing the fuel tank up for air filter replacement when a Helibar riser is installed? It's an ST1300. Hoping I don't have to unbolt the bars. Thanks in advance.
I've got Heli Bars and my tank will clear, but I always remove the five bolts of the bracket at the base of the tank to let it move around a bit.
This enables more movement of the upper tank during the process and seems to put less strain or pinch on the interconnecting hose.
Will be replacing the hose as well as the filter this week.
Hose seems good but it's getting on sixteen years old. and there can be up to twenty odd litres in that upper tank. Some including the service manual I think recommend replacement of the constant tension clamps at the same time.
[edit] Subject to correction, but I think if you run your fuel down to less than one bar[?] the upper tank should be empty.
No, not if you are not removing the tank or opening the lower tank.Is it necessary to run the fuel down before lifting the tank? I haven't done that... so far, no problem.
