Everyone have a good one, stay safe and go safely (including you and Mrs. Fun, Keith
Thanks Patty. Can't speak for the others but we've made it to Istanbul with only minor incidents.
Going through passport control and security at Hanoi, Mrs Fun was ahead of me and went through without issue. I cleared passport control but got pulled aside before reaching the security screening. Whaaaa....???
I was escorted back to where checked bags are scanned and told there was an issue with mine. Nope, it was Mrs. Fun's, which had the stupid "insecurity" lock she insists on using, I dunno why. Of course SHE had the key, was already past security screening, and had no idea what had happened to me.
Fortunately we both have WhatsApp so I could call her. The bag screening chap, a verynice and obliging guy, went back and got the key from her so I could open the lock.
The culprit was a powerbank (battery) she had put in checked bags instead of hand luggage. We took it out and I put it in my hand luggage, and with that I was finally able to recollect my passport (held at passport control) and get on with getting through security.
I can forgive the powerbank infraction but I was absolulutely fuming mad, because all the kerfuffle could have been avoided if she didn't insist on using that useless, pointless, idiotic lock.
Going through the re-screen at the transfer here in Istanbul she got flagged again: bug repellent in the hand luggage. That one was easier though, and to my amazement they let her keep it after confirming what it was.
Ah the joys of modern travel.
