Mick, I just looked at your website and I have to comment. That Red on your ST13 really looks great. My '03 is the stock silver and I just may have it repainted after seeing your picture.
Stuck Pre-Load Adjuster

I started my dis-assembly tonight. I put everything in a clear plastic box. I used the nail and got the spring out but there was no little ball. Now I see why it would not adjust. Previous owner must have messed with it and gave up. Working on getting the clip out. Any successful tips, feel free to send a PM.
Little bump for this old post. But for me the solution. This is the only topic I could find with pictures of the pre-load adjuster disambled.
I have taken my own adjuster apart today. It was very hard to turn.
Taken everything out and cleaned it. Polished the piston edges with fine steel wool. It was not smooth.
The hole to get to the ring was not there on mine. I have drilled a small hole and then get the ring out.
I noticed that the end of the bold is turning into the piston steel on steel. I have added moly paste to get a better sliding surface.
But I think this will turn way smoother when there is a sort of bearing between the bold and the piston.
Anybody that have an idee for this?
