Starter relay removal; help!

N.B. The starter relay cannot ‘trip’ if the ST1100’s starter safety interlock system is in fault (side stand, clutch switch, and neutral switch - can’t complete the circuit to ground). See the diagram in the Honda Service Manual.

Thanks to all for the great advice. At this juncture, I'm going to stick with following the sequence laid out in the service manual; it's served me well in the past.
I'll keep you posted about my progress.

Good news! I reinstalled the new starter relay, and she fired right up!
