Are there any nice trunk boxes out there beside GIVI? I don't have anything against GIVI just wanted to explore all the options.

Re: ST1300 Trunk Boxes

Check out the Hondaline top box; use the "search" function, and you can find some photos. It is about the same size as the Givi (the 46 liter that most people buy,) detaches as quickly, has a backrest pad, and is also color matched to the bike. It comes down to what appeals to your personal aesthetics. Either box will cost you, but you get what you pay for. I bought the Honda box, but would have been happy with a Givi if it hadn't been available. Honda doesn't import the box here, but David Silver Spares (www.davidsilverspares.co.uk) will ship you one from England. Cruiserbackrest (www.cruiserbackrest.com) also imports them. I'd check both sites for price and availability. There's a "spoiler" available for the Honda box, which people seem to either love or hate. It's also quite expensive. There are also some less expensive aftermarket boxes, but I haven't seen any as nice as the Givi or Honda items.

Thanks, I'll check it out. I have seen some bikes with the spoiler, I get the felling I might like it.....:D

just bought an o6 st and dealer told me shad boxes are nice. i do not know how much i will use box so i might try the shad www.shad.es . I did not really see any prices yet. In the long run if u use box alot, hondaline box matches the best:06biker:

Re: ST1300 Trunk Boxes

I do like the Hondaline top box w/spoiler:D Nothing wrong with the others but I think this style fits me better.

patentcad, Your seat on the bike caught my eye, is it a Sargent or some other?

Re: ST1300 Trunk Boxes

I would like to buy the one on EBAY. Wondering how you like yours? The color match too....any good?

Being that my ST is an '06, the black Bestem box via eBay matched perfectly. I have not yet mounted it, but it seems sufficiently sturdy ... about as good as my Harley top box. Its only downside is the backrest pad is on the cheap side of most opinions, but that's not an issue to me since my SO never rides with me.

I've accumulated an entire extra set of body panels (tupperware) for my ST which I intend to paint white. The lid of the Bestem box will be painted white so I can save my Harley top box as all-black. The accumulation of body parts started when I placed an insanely low bid on eBay for a new ST fuel tank having nothing more than a minor cosmetic scratch (didn't go through to the metal), and won the auction.

I will keep my Givi and with the added HyperLites I am ahed about $600 over the Honda box, and the Givi is larger.:03biker:

Re: ST1300 Trunk Boxes

I have the Bestem trunk on my 2005. I bought the red, it does NOT match the factory paint, but it does look decent and works well. For the price, it's tough to beat.

Re: ST1300 Trunk Boxes

I have a Mutazu (Bestem) trunk also. I just returned from Bikeweek in Daytona beach and the trunk was fully loadedwith no problems. It's not fancy, but it gets the job done. I also have the trunk brake lights connected and they make a big difference especially at night. For the money, try one out. If you don't like it, sell it on Ebay.

Re: ST1300 Trunk Boxes

Yesterday I added the spoiler/brake light to my hondaline top box, and it looks awesome. It is expensive but it looks like it belongs on the ST. Also, I am very happy with the increased visibility of the spoiler's brake light. I'd recommed going through David Silver rather than Cruiserbackrest. It may cost a little more, but the service is MUCH BETTER with David Silver. Interestingly, and I don't know if other people have noticed, but my bike feels a little more top heavy since the spoiler was installed.

Re: ST1300 Trunk Boxes

Question about the top box..........have you folks noticed a difference in cross winds? Here in the southern prairie we've been known to get just a little bit of wind now and then :D

Comments on the crosswind factor with and without top box?

+1, Givi450 + Givi light kit + extra LEDs from AdMoreLighting and its still hundreds less than the hondaline box. :D

Wow I just checked for kicks, Hondaline box plus spoiler is $1000+. LOL what do they think this thing is a BMW? My setup is about $650 less.

I went with the Honda Top Box....after looking at them all , I thought the Honda box looked like it belongs on the ST. One of the things that sold me on it was the fact that I could put two full face helmets in it.

Prior to installing the Honda top box, I rode in what was probably the worst crosswind I'd ever encountered. We actually had to stop briefly. I've ridden in some pretty bad ones with the box (even in the last month,) and don't perceive much difference. There is some additional surface area due to the box, but it's a small percentage of the total side area of the ST1300. I guess 40 mph crosswinds are bad, either way, but I don't feel it's any worse with the top box.

Re: ST1300 Trunk Boxes

The best part about the Hondaline top box is the spoiler and the high-mounted brakelight. MUCH safer in my opinion. Worth the money so you lower your chances of getting rear-ended. Here it is on my bike:

I like the looks of that box, but you can put lights on the givi too.

That's a plus. I bought my ST with 2000 miles on it and it already had the givi 46 on it and it only holds one helmet. Since I usually only ride with the box when Katherine is with me it'd be convenient to be able to put two helmets in the box. I put one helmet in the box, another in one saddle bag then have to cram two jackets and anything else we have into the last saddle bag. Maybe I ought to look at putting the givi on the blackbird and ordering one of those for the ST.
