DOWN HARD throttle jerk
It doesn't take much conjuring to imagine my ST slowing for a corner with a yield sign, waiting for grams in the Buick to make up her mind to take her right of way. She feints, stops, feints again, then fakes me out by accelerating into my intended path. I'm was almost stopped, but grams has me out there now, so part way through the corner I ROLL ON some throttle to stay out of the Buick's way. By the way....the corner is rain soaked, oil soaked, and is steeply off camber. This actually happened to me while riding my 1986 Concours between Jerome and Cottonwood, Arizona (that piece of road has since been replaced).
Why the drama concerning my new and only slightly used (1135 miles) '04 ST1300? Gloss over the throttle snatch problem if you want, but if this incident had taken place while riding the Honda... I WOULD HAVE GONE DOWN, HARD & QUICK, no if's, ands or buts and it would have HURT....entirely due to abrupt throttle snatch the ST is famous for.
I've read about the fixes and I hope they will work for me.
But I'm angry about Honda putting a bike out there with both a throttle and an engine-heat problem for the rider (see my memo:search "heating", page 2, It's 120 degrees out there).
That's NOT reasonable progress compared to my '86 Kawi, Honda! Are you listening?
