Article [13] ST1300 - Available Tires

I installed the t32 gt front last week. Immediately noticed the handling improvement, compared to the worn Z8 m-spec that it replaced. To be clear,,, the dry performance is equivelent to a new z8 m-spec (which has been my go to front tire for years now). Should have the t32 gt rear installed by end of September,,, and they should carry me through most of 2025,,, given that I have other bikes to wear out as well,,, LOL,,, CAt'

ps: so far this long time Metzeler hwm-spec fan is happy with the price point Bridgestone gt performance
I defo noticed a big difference in ride feel. You flow in the corners more. I’m guessing the profile is better due to the way you transition from harder compound to the stickier edge compounds. It was a bit weird at first but you get used to it quickly.

Make sure to break in the tires.

Scrubbed and have 200 miles on them. Was aware for the first 100. Thx. In all reality newer tyres don’t have the same slippyness as older tires as the moulds don’t use a silicon release agent. The rubber is now direct mould. So the first 100 miles is easily enough to scrub them in.

It's still on their web site, my last T32 needed scuffing

LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL DUE TO FAILURE TO “BREAK-IN” TIRES.

  • Use extreme caution when riding on new tires.
  • Avoid sudden acceleration, maximum braking, and hard cornering for first 100 miles.

Care and Use at Low Temperatures:

  • High performance motorcycle tires may crack in the tread area from impact or deformation at low ambient temperatures. Handle and store the tires with care. Always ride carefully until the tires are warmed up, particularly in low ambient temperature conditions.

Thanks for the observations. I would be curious of your opinion of the Bridgestones in the rain, after you get the full set installed.

I will comment now that I have a longer ride on the T32’s doing a lot of technical work over the mountains in wet/foggy conditions and hitting superslab that is rutted out with potholes that these tyres are very confident inspiring. Very happy with them. Just hope they last!!

Good to know. Sounds like I made a good choice of tires. Due to my limited experience with street bikes I can only say the T32s are better than the OEM tires that were on the bike when I got it and that I was caught in a down pour last night and it didn't take long to put traction on the bottom of my list of concerns. :)

I’ve been happy with Bridgestones but these are definitely the best Bridgestones I’ve had so far. The tyre technology has vastly improved over the last 10 years.

I don't think I will be able to answer your question,, to opine about the t32's in the rain. I have been out in the wet a few times,,, and the front seems just as good as the Z8 front. But no super heavy rain exposure. Besides,,, I back off in the rain. McRider had an interesting article that opined that the newest silca shouldered tires are, for a street application, just as good in the wet as they are dry. Anyway,,, I don't push it in the wet to find out. And rubber on asphalt,,, is different than rubber on paint, tar or concrete. Just to do a new apple to new apple comparison on the front tires,, I mounted a new Z8 front on one bike, to compare against the new T32 on the other bike. After a couple hours of dry cold running today,,, I couldn't detect any difference in performance. It will take time to determine durability of each. My tire changer said about the old Z8 front tire,,, "where is the left side shoulder" !! Guess I left it on the local roundabouts !! CAt'

My garage says that the T31 is way better in durability than the T32. Newer is not always better. No matter what they prenounce.
I have now the Michelin Road 6. Rear tire is badly cupped after 7000km. I found them not stable. Always a searching feeling. Next set tires will be the Bridgestone T31 GT.

Strange, I have over 18k km on my road 5, you think they made a worse tire with the 6?

I have no experience with the Michelin Road 5. Only the Road 6.
For the money and the durability, i find it a expensive tire. I must admit, they give me a lot of confidence. It sticks well on the road, wet and dry.

My 2012 came with a set of T31's on it,,, and they performed well enough that I became interested in them as a potential price point alternative to my Metzelers. I did wear out the front T31 (hmmm,,, seems to be a trend),,, and struggled to find a replacement, as stock was low in view of the new T32's replacing the T31's. But I did find one,,, and then wore it out in what seemed like a normal amount of mileage. Your shop's comment indicates that the T32 has a higher silica content. If that is the case, then it will wear faster on the left side,, and be more susceptible to cupping,, but also offer comparatively more grip in the wet. Time will tell,,, as my t32 front is on for a month now,, and should run till about July/August 2025. So far,, the handling is notably very good. And,,, since the price of the T32's has increased significantly,, compared to the T31's,,, I will expect premium performance and life from them. Will let you know how I get along,,, cheers, CAt'

My experience doesn't match with what your garage say. Not by much, but my T32Gt have lasted consistently longer then my T31GTs did. Small margins, I admit, but every little helps. 5000miles is the norm for a rear tyre for me. Hills, two up touring, textured roads, weight etc.
My current set are promising to last longer.

I note the Bridgestone T33s have been announced with sizes that match the ST1300. They claim 47% increase in life. But no mention of GT version yet, but it does say the construction is now such that it is suitable for light and heavy bikes.

Hah,,, Bridgestone gets an A for creative writing, on that article !! Looks like the T33's will be out before I finish evaluating my T32's. And I must say,,, the T32 is doing very well so far. Come to think of it,,, the same thing happened when the T32's came out and I was still on my T31's. But,, a claimed %47 mileage improvement is very significant. As it stands now,,, I should be good on the T32's thru 2025. So I look forward to reading someone else's assessment of the new T33 rubber. I am glad to see my sizes listed there. thx, John,,, CAt'

I've only run Bridgestone on my 2003 ST1300, purchased in 2011 or 12 used. I've run the BT020 right through to the T30s, 31s and 32s, all in GT spec. For my two cents (not that you asked) the T32s are the best of them. Good tire wear. This most recent one is now up to over 8000 km on the rear and that's about 3000 more than the last one (I must be slowing down). They stick well in the rain and I've never had any bad manners with them. I ride assertively, even in the wet, and have yet to engage ABS even (should not have said that, I know better). I cannot compare on the ST1300....but...

My new (to me) VFR1200X came with a set of well worn Pilot 6 tires. Even worn out they stick like glue. I know it's a different kind of bike, but it rails through the turns while the ST1300 flows really well. Likely a bit of tire and bike in that calculation. The rear is all squared off and needs replacing, the front shows a little cupping, but still very planted. They don't have a GT spec in the size for the VFR, and I'm scared to move away from the Pilot 6 now, but I'll likely do it for next year, at least in part due to the $$, but if the seat of the pants says the Pilots are better, I'll go back. They all only last about a year anyway.
