Hi folks, Dave (new member) here with a question regarding an alternative stator for my 94 ST1100. Does anyone know if the stator on a 94 Honda cbr1000f is interchangeable with the 28 amp stator on my ST ? The hitachi part number seems to be the same LD125-53 .

Hi Dave. In 20 years on the various forums I’ve never heard of a Honda substitute for the listed ST1100 part. The Honda part numbers are similar though...

IINM the VRRs are the same part for both bikes though.

Good luck.

John

Howdy Dave, welcome to the forum.

Thanks John, I'm going to try and get hold of the cbr1000f stator to compare it to the one on the ST, the main difference seems to be the terminations (a single Multi plug compared to two plugs on my ST). Am running a Honda 750/4 VVR directly soldered into the bikes harness and existing stator, so plug would be cut off anyway. Will report the outcome....
(Waiting for swing arm tool arriving) kind regards.

Dave, I think your assessment of the stators being the same except for the single plug is correct but the CBR1000F version is even more unobtainable at least here in the USA. Chances in UK and Europe are probably not good either. Maybe you should advertise for a preemptive changed 28 Amp here in the wanted section. I got a replacement via wanted ad.

Thanks for your good advice, if my search proves unsuccessful I will no doubt be advertising for a 28 amper, kind regards Dave

You might look at some of the non OEM 40 amp alternators on eBay. Some of the folks over here have used them and been very pleased. Lots of instructions on upgrading from the 28 to the 40 amp on this site.
Have already kept an eye on some eBay 28 ampers here in the uk, but up close they didn't look too good, (rubber wiring cover displaced etc...) so don't know if I'd be inheriting someone's previous problem. Have also just found a company in England willing to rewind my original stator for around £90 + tax. Think they also mentioned a three year g'tee. Looks tempting compared to a used alternator at £275 + delivery. Just want the bike back on the road asap, but, a good lasting repair ??? ( bike has done 42k) kind regards Dave

:biggrin:As I said, the non-OEM alternators on FleaBay seem be of good quality and definitely less expensive. And if you are pulling it, why not upgrade?
BTW, where are you located in Scotland? Been there riding a time or two.
Am right in the middle , central Scotland, town is Cumbernauld , about 12 miles east of Glasgow

Dave, firstly welcome from Northumberland UK. Not too far from you.
Don't know if this link could prove useful at all somewhere down the line.
I know it says 13's but he does 11's too.
Upt'North.

Hi, thanks for the info, I looked at his ad on gumtree and could only see 40 ampers, but will give him a phone anyway, kind regards Dave
