Gah! Not available in anything bright other than white. If they're aiming this at the touring crowd, they kinda missed the boat on that one.

Mark I disagree with that White stands out far better than any other color of helmet. Even the yellow ones.

Agree. I've always worn white helmets for that very reason.

Getting back on topic, I called all around Houston yesterday trying to find anyone who might have the Qwest in stock. Not a single place (dealers, Cyclegear, etc) had one. They all mentioned having to work down their current inventory before getting any new helmets. I suspect it will be spring before we see them in stores.

I'm really anxious to try on the new Qwest. It's supposed to be slightly rounder than the RF1100. I'm coming from an Arai Quantum that fits me like a glove but they no longer make it. The RF1100 almost fits but not quite. I'm pinning my hopes on the Qwest.

Hopefully the vents don't roar like the RF1100 and the rear pads don't keep coming unclipped.

I do love Shoei helmets. Have tried to find a better made more comfortable helmet for my head shape, so far I have failed.

This looks like it will be a very nice helmet.

I am becoming increasingly peed off with Shoei's refusal to put an inside drop down sun visor in their helmets.

They claim it would compromize safety, to that I say :bsflag:

Here are some excellent videos about helmets. The first video is specifically about the Qwest. The second one talks about various touring helmets. The touring video is where they mention that the Qwest is slightly rounder than the RF1100:

Every helmet I've seen with an internal visor has extra slots or holes in the shell. That DOE'S weaken the shell. Of course, so do vents, and pivots on flip ups. How much is subject to debate, I guess. Arai won't even make a flip up. Hjc makes a nice helmet with an internal visor, the IS 16. I'm tempted by it, but its got a slot cut lengthwise through the top of the helmet. That worries me.

FWIW, I wear an Arai Viper GT that fits me perfectly, I've tried a couple of other Shoeis and found a little pressure on my forehead. I tried a Qwest last week and it fitted really well, if my Arai is 100%, the the Qwest is 98-99% fit wise. As far as weight is concerned, the Qwest wins hands down and it has much better vision too courtesy of a larger visor aperture. The finish looks plush and head wearing too. Value for money the Qwest comes out on top.

It could be my nest helmet!!!

I've had my Quest (White- Medium) since last November. I LOVE IT!!! This from a guy who came from an X-11 and Arai before that so I don't mind spending a lot on a hat. I can say the Quest is superior to the other hats in several noticable ways. Vision- Fantastic peripheral view, noticably better than the X-11. Really useful for quick lane changes. Shield Seal- This baby self-closes like a bank vault. The new double spring mechanism ain't just for giggles, it's tons better than my X-11 was. Weight- Seems to be very light, hardly noticable. Fabric- Fine. For some reason the X-11 irritated my skin (baby skin, I know)

Finally, this thing is priced crazy at $350 list. I got mine at my local dealer when he ran a Thanksgiving weekend 25% off sale. Even at full list this is a fantastic deal.

So, ask me what I really think of the Quest ... Tim

The cheapest I've found the Qwest is for $350 at Canada's Motorcycle.

I bought my Qwest from CanadasMotorcycle.com. FWIW their service was prompt and I received the helmet within a week via Canada Post. The Qwest is much quieter than my previous HJC, which is why I bought it, and the fit and finish are what you'd expect for a helmet at this price point.

Shoei helmets are also available in Canada on-line from Pete's Superbike. The monochrome Qwest is listed at C$360 or C$440 for a pretty one, $30 cheaper than CanadasMotorcycle.com.
