I got my Shark audio system installed on my bike last week.
Hi,
nicely done, just a few constructive tips from my POV:
- swap the controller/remote to the left handle bar; you don't want to have anything interfear with your throttle hand, nor having to cross your arms for reaching there. Its a safety thing, my02...
- get some heat protection on the outside of the fairing pocket the kit is located in; not just a wrap with adhesive tin foil, there ~10mm thick thermal insulations avail for use in engine bays or car underbellys to keep the exhaust heat out the cabin. The heat can mess up the electronic components, possible causing sound dissortions, malfunctions or, if the amp is equipped with thermal protection, it'll simply turn off every now and then (dunno how good your iPod deals with heat, my iPod Classic is not soo keen on high temps and can suffer seizures then; which is why all my audio stuff is located in the tail cone now)
As for high power output: BTDI :-D
2x 130W McAudio 'stroker' 2-way speakers in the fairing lids, a real full MosFET 2x200W car amp from Blaupunkt or Sony (consuming like 1/3rd of the pannier LOL) were quite sufficient to annoy just any bystanders ;-)
But on the long run I (and them pillions) learned to value the comfort a quality intercom with audio feed provides on long hauls.
I still got fairing speakers on my ST though, black marine type ones so I don't have to care about rain or hosing down the mount, more for the fun, occasionally receiving a grin and nod from the bloke in the car right next, or even a brief 'traffic-light flirt' with a gal while filtering through the queues ;-)
