Kinda resolved itself? Sounds like a LOT of thought went into this! Sounds like a plan though. Glad you figured it out.Well this kind of resolved itself.

Rental vans over $100 a day plus over $1 a mile.
When I worked at Smythe Buick we went to Stans on Homestead and Kiely for hot glazed donuts every day, is this the same one?stop by Stan’s donuts
Yep, right next to Armadillo Willy’s.When I worked at Smythe Buick we went to Stans on Homestead and Kiely for hot glazed donuts every day, is this the same one?
one way kills the price, u is about 24 a day for an enclosed trailer. Why would he have to go one way? Why would you need an enclosed trailer, the bike can handle rain or snow on a trailer. He is trying to do it cheaply. That is why I said check Penske. I just did a check. I pick it up in my town and dropped it off in the next town over. $309.00 for three days and unlimited no charge milage. You just pay for the gas. You pick it up full of gas and drop it off full of gas. That was for a 16' van with a ramp.
If you pick up and drop it off at the same place, then it was $39.00 a day and $.49 cents a mile. Plus gas.
When I looked at a U Haul enclosed trailer from Ohio to UT, it was $700 for a 3 day one way rental. Way cheaper to go with a Penske van than a U Haul enclosed trailer.
Glad to hear you got it worked out Larry. Riding home will be way more fun than out in back in a tow vehicle!

Other than some snow in the moutains of California don't see any in Arizona either.I suggested an enclosed trailer because it is winter! Would you want your bike covered in winter road crud? Depending on the route, states spread salt, sand, salt brine, and cinders. If on an open trailer, you would want to wrap the bike in moving plastic. I did this years ago on a cross country move in March. Glad I did. The plastic was covered in salt when I finished the trip. The bike would have had salt in every nook and cranny if I didn't. When I took the plastic off the bike, no salt at all.
Others suggested a one way for the trailer. That is why I suggested the van was cheaper. A local trailer rental would defiantly be cheaper even with the lower MPG of the tow vehicle.
I'm glad thagt this has ll worked out well for you Larry.Well this kind of resolved itself.
The bike is safe in a secure garage, on a battery tender, until spring, when the weather warms up.
I will mail a roadside repair/travel kit, tools, plug kit, etc.
Then fly down there for free on my wife’s frequent flyer miles, flush the fluids, give everything an OCD once over, take a shakedown ride to Alice’s, stop by Stan’s donuts, then take the long way home along the coast highway, through San Diego, then take 8 into Arizona, avoiding Phoenix traffic, then home to Tucson.
Being retired, who cares how many days it will take, it’s the journey not the destination right?
This will give me a couple months to start building up my muscles again doing short daily rides.
And…..I will carry my IGOFAR license plate with me on the trip.
