The big freeze in a couple of days. Remember to trickle yer faucets.
Too cold to work in the garage so I'm painting the living/dining rooms.
Sheesh I just might clean the place!

have a great day y'all!

hugs

Dave

Is Friday Foo Foo the same as Saturday. I'll have a coffee and think about it a while.
Come to think of it I could do with at least two more Fridays to catch up before Saturday.
What day is it?
Whatever day it may or not be it's a lovely day to sit, eat freshly baked Croissants, drink coffee and watch the sun come up.
They said no frost, it's a frosty start here, God knows what temperature and it should stay sunny. As soon as the frost lifts I think I'll dig and prepare the garlic bed for planting. Exciting innit, the expectation of a new spring. And new garlic, I'm down to my last 20 bulbs!
Av a gud un and remember, what day is it?
It's a good day.
Upt.

This is what happens when you get up too early and have your TikTok rights withdrawn.
Pffffffftttttt.

Thx Dave!
Fri<foo:foo=Sat

8˚c/64f once again, greyish, a tiny breeze.

Mrs Stus’ attempt on buying a new swimsuit ended with nothing (but a flu virus..).
Apologies if yesterdays posting brought some unnatural toughts to anyone.

Waiting for the firewood supplier. I usually am self supplied, but not this year….pffffft!
Then a walk.
Shopping for some food ( and paracetamol for Mrs Stu).

Have a good one!
Stu

From the spring adventure 2023….just passed the Fjærland glacier in the beginning of May.

stay safe

Good morning everyone

There's fresh-brewed French roast in the pot for you. It's hot and tasty, but won't improve with age so now's the best time for you to enjoy it.

It's cloudy and 32°F in Rockville. Scattered rain and other forms of precipitation are possible, but only from 0900 to 1000 hours. It feels several degrees colder than it actually is but, as yesterday, there'll be an inversion between late morning and midafternoon.

Yesterday Mrs. Fun and I spent an hour or so preparing a permethrin solution and soaking our travel clothes in it. Permethrin is an insecticide / repellent; we're hoping that it will help ward off mosquitoes and therefore improve our comfort as well as reduce the chances of our contracting some exotic mosquito-borne tropical disease. It's evidently pretty nasty stuff until it dries: all prep had to be done outside, with us wearing protective gloves to avoid contact with our skin. It's also apparently highly toxic to cats in particular so we wanted to keep it away from Mulan.

The instructions said to soak clothes for a minimum of two hours, then take them out of the bag and let them air dry outdoors. They've been soaking in their sealed-up ziplock bags overnight (in a box, indoors), so that part's taken care of. However, our weather isn't conducive to outdoor clothes drying at the moment so we're going to impose on friends who have a heated garage. We'll take the sodden garments up to their place later this morning, hang or spread them on trying racks in the garage, then spend several hours enjoying the company of people we don't see often enough, then come home later this afternoon. If for some reason the clothes haven't dried by then we'll go back tomorrow to retrieve them.

Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love them.

Good morning everyone

Thanks for the Friday Saturday coffee and funnies Dave. I only glanced at the thread titles when I signed on; didn't see anything with "Saturday" or today's date in the title so I started a pot of French roast for everyone. You can enjoy that once you've depleted the Green Mountain brew provided here. @Mellow will probably consolidate the two later on anyhow.

Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones what day it is you love them.

Good morning all!
Thanks for the humorous start Dave! That GMD will get those cobwebs cleaned off in a heartbeat! We’re on our way to breakfast momentarily.
72/82 & wet in Ft Lauderdale, where we’ll be before long. The plan is to disembark and endure the bus ride back north to our park.
It’s been a fun adventure, we sailed 2300 nautical miles according to the cruise app I just looked at.
Enjoy your Saturday!
WB

Sheesh, it's Saturday after all! What a dope!

I have the same problem: on many days, I am not certain what day of the week it is. You could easily have convinced me yesterday that it was a Saturday. Dunno how I formed that impression, but it was strong and persisted nearly all day.

Good morning Thanks for the French Roast Keith, sounds great this morning. I can smell it from here.

The treatment you're doing to your cloths sounds gnarly! I hope you wear a base layer under the treated stuff?

Temps back to the winter normal here in the frozen tundra. Today's high happened at 12:01am and temps will continue to drop throughout the day settling at about 9F. Forecast is the same for tomorrow except temps will start a 9F and drop from there. I think I hear my wife calling and I better head back down to FL and see what she wants.

Enjoy the day, stay warm remember be safe out there.

Dave thanks for the Green Mountain. I saw Friday in the title and joined Keith for French roast on Saturday. I love time warps. Will Griffin be joining us for a cup? If we combine the treads will we have Green Mountain French Roast? Going down to grab a cup of the real stuff. So many possibilities it's going to be a great day.

Not necessary, evidently. The stuff's apparently only a health hazard while it's still wet. After it dries it bonds to the fabric (specifically, to the dyes) apparently, and stays there for up to six weeks / six machine washings.

Good morning, and thanks for the coffee start, Dave.
The extra pot that Keith supplied isn't bad, either.
I had the benefit of logging in AFTER Mellow cleaned things up, so thanks.

It's 32 and sunny in MA this morning, but it will cloud up and rain later in the day.
Temperature will rise to 43-ish.

Yesterday, I spent a couple of hours at the local ski hill, and got some decent skiing in. First lift at 9:20, and was off the mountain by 1:00.
Our contractor cleaned up a few last minute items while I was gone, such as a shower seat and venting the fan outside, and only has 2 things to finish.
One is a roll-out closet in the bathroom, and the other is a missing cabinet handle, so we're almost there.
Brenda found the roll-out closet idea online, and he's trying to replicate it.
He prototyped the closet box, yesterday and found it a bit too long or wide to fit into the space it would be set in, without hitting the toilet or wall.
Almost there...

Today, I'll try to get out for a walk, before the rain, and Brenda wants to get our kitchen and bath stuff out of the trailer.
I wanted to do that, earlier, but she's working on Brenda time...

Enjoy the day,
Steve

Hey, it happens. No worries.

Dunno how I formed that impression, but it was strong and persisted nearly all day.
I hear retirement can do that to a feller. Surely you're not complaining...?

Now that Mellow has poured the pots into a single thread, latecomers will probably be at least momentarily puzzled about all the talk of Friday. I'll leave it to them to work out what happened.
Woke up a short while ago, and had this crazy dream... in this dream I got up for a few minutes, and it was Friday again! I felt odd somehow, it's hard to describe, so in the dream I just went back to bed. Strange.

Fresh Black ⚫️ Rifle in the pot, if the other brews have been on the burner too long. Hopefully not, I hate to see coffee wasted.

I'm reminded of a line by Denzel, in "Book of Eli"... where he tells a young girl "people kill today, for what we used to throw away." What a great movie -- see it, if you haven't.

With our pleasant thermometer bump, comes the rain today. It will all change back to 48 hours of below freezing temps next week, with talk of a second snowfall. I don't wanna believe it.

Kinda like I didn't wanna believe it was Friday again.

Do your best to have a good day.

Good morning, oh silly ones. Thanks for the GMD, yummy sourdough and funnies, Dave, and for the French Roast refill, Keith! :)

Today's time warp reminds me of an old folk song about a railway station master and a confused passenger, the station master's explanation being:

If you wanted to go to Morrow,
You shouldn't have come today,
For the train that goes to Morrow,
Went to Morrow yesterday!

The "mild before the big chill" continues and it's a cruel tease. It's going to snow pretty much all day (light flakes falling as I type), and today's temps will hover around 1°C/34°F with a feels-like of -3°C/27°F, only increasing by a degree or so. Shouldn't be too bad tomorrow, but then the ice man cometh.

Gotta get a move on - I'm in charge of making dessert for a dinner gathering with a few friends tonight, so I have to a) decide what I'm making and b) go forage for the appropriate ingredients. Everyone have a great day, stay safe and go safely.

Patty
