Looks GREATI did the top box with the 3 part Color Rite system. Most people can't tell the difference. It took 6 coats of the red before I got the right match.

I'm in the process of finishing a project '81 Honda CB650 that has moved from garage to garage in boxes for probably 15 years. A previous owner stripped the tank so I am trying get it painted and presentable and appreciate the good advice given in the thread. This was the vid that inspired me to try:

thanks for all your helpful replys. Painting is not my favorite, I have no patience. I think I'm gonna mask off the top half of the housing , sand well enough to get the gouges out on the bottom, then I'll just paint the bottom a satin black to match the black accents on the bike. Then I'll do the other housing to match. It sounds easier to me. Then I can go ride after I get my new tires and brakes on. Happy Trails

At the end of the day, the only one you have to please with it is yourself! 
I decided to give this a shot since I couldn't find any vinyl wrap to match the RT Blue color.
I panted the V46 lid that @ibike2havefun gave me. I probably put one coat too much or one less base coat on as it's about a shade darker in person, in the pics it looks like a pretty good match. It's good enough for me lol

Looks better than when I shipped it, no question.
