ST1300
Hello everyone, I've joined up here as I have my heart set on a ST1300 (but the Fl 25, 26 has me scared) I live on the border between Melbourne and Sydney.
I haven't ridden for nearly 20 years, and back then it was a GSXR-750 and I lived in Melbourne, but living where I do now (near the Hume and right next to the Snowy Mountains etc) I have made some friends who also do some overnight touring, so It's time to get back in the saddle! Years ago a close mate bought an ST1100 (he still has it, but not using it) and I fell in love with it. so here I am!
"Hello!"

As far as ST1300's go concentrate on model year 2008 and newer. This problem is much more rare on later model years- They have a different ECM.

Look through the below so you will have an idea what to look for and what to ask about when you go tire kicking.

Good luck with the hunt.

Life is full of worries; if you take them all too seriously you may as well just stay home. My 05 has 136000km and runs great.

The 1300 is a different beast to the 1100; more top-heavy, hotter to ride (which may be a factor in the West Island) but also quicker and sportier. I prefer the pep and handling of my 1300 but I do miss the more relaxing vibe of the 1100. An 1100 is mechanically simpler as it lacks FI, electric screen and probably ABS, if you are OK with basic carb maintenance they are very easy to look after.
