Poor-man’s HUD

Looks like an app to reverse your screen for whatever smart phone you have & then the reflective sheet you put on the windscreen.
Industrial-strength velcro to hold the phone on the dash and there you go!! AV8R please give us more information!!

Not this one. Its a dedicated GPS

Ive done the iphone ones before in my car, but who wants to sacrifice a smartphone for that , and out of reach.

Right...
I will use the same tough velcro i used to hold the PTT button onto the left handle bar switches

The link, and they are down the road from me...

Did the same with my phone then an iPad Mini for proof of concept. But for $35, it might be interesting. The ACL Turn Signal Reminder Thingy worked really well. Thanks for the link.

$35 HUD Display.jpeg

The ACL Thingy was visible in any kind of light short of nuclear flash. Or a flash bang on the dash maybe.

If this thing is readable in most daylight situations telling time would be a piece of cake. I hate that I can't see the time on the ST's display.

Is that a trip ODO in the upper right?

Road tested it today...
Other than dim in sunny California lighting, yet still readable with sunglasses on, im totally used to this already. No more looking down. Super easy to set up and two velcro strips was all it takes to hold it.

Drove around with it at dusk and dark yesterday (getting darker earlier now)...

Was super bright and very clear, some ghosting, but i dont care for adding the rectangular reflecive film on my windscreen (but it does work). So bright in fact, that when i got home, i enabled the auto brightness mode in the setup. Which is also pretty easy once you run through its 8 modes and get the hang of it.

Its also an attention grabber, so be ready for it. Remember to only look at gauges for brief times as you scan data and keep SA. Not having to look down for speed is its main purpose, and this does that well.

Oh, and it uses a 12v cigarette lighter sized power plug. I think you could swap it for a standard USB power chord with a mini/micro-USB jack on it. Again, the only complaint i have is only the speed (white) is visible in direct So Cal sunshine. Too bad the sections didnt have color choices. Overall, it works for me and is a keeper until i upgrade to an expensive unit (which is risky on a bike).

Enjoy

got PYLE HUD from amazon.
cost a little more ,but I got it before I left foe ArkanSTOC.
will set up in morning before I leave.
very good on screen(smoked/tint probably helps)

The Pyle unit looks exactly like what I ordered. Amazon has a lot more info on it though. I wonder if there's some transparent/translucent cling vinyl that could be applied to the screen so as to be temporary or easily removed.

I'd prefer a helmet HUD like the NUVIZ but it's $700 and seems to have some kinks still to be worked out. So this $36 thing is worth trying out as proof of concept at least. I think for double the price there could be a very serviceable dash mount version starting with auto-brightness for day/night visibility. Maybe programable for what information you want displayed. Ground speed and/or True Air speed. And artificial horizon and gunsight reticle (for a camera).

USB is 5V. Will the 'Pyle' run on that? Is the 12V from it's cord stepped down along the way?
