Passenger floorboards for St1300?

I was wondering if anyone knew where I might get good set of small passenger floorboards or wider pegs for the ST.
I have looked on the internet, and the only thing I have saw so far that might work, is a set of rider pegs for a Goldwing, that are wider than the ST passenger pegs, and look like they might fit the ST. Goldwing passenger floorboards look like they fit a lot different.
Does anyone know if the Goldwing rider pegs might fit the ST passenger peg brackets?
We take several 2,000 to 4,000 trips, and my wife would like to be able to move her feet around a little more. (she really likes to ride, but says I don't stop often enough).
I had a set of custom made floorboards for a 1984 V65 Sabre, and they worked great, mounted right in front of the passenger pegs, but the ST's configeration is a lot different.
Much thanks for any help.

I'd love some insight from anyone who's put floorboards on an ST. My wife and daughter would both love 'em.

Floorboards....and some concho shell saddlebags...and some leather fringe on the grips....grin!!!!

Been looking around for some of those myself. Even sent some suggestion e-mails to a couple of different guys making ST accessories. No luck yet. I looked at the article on the calsci site but passed on that method. I'm sure there is a way to make a nice looking floorboard for the passenger that is still a clean looking part in keeping with the style of the ST. My wife remains hopeful!

Thanks Burger, showed it to my SWAMBO and she gave it a thumbs up. I told her it will have to look good or it will not stay on the :04biker:

Did they fit the ST passenger peg holders, or did you modify them? Wouldn't have any pictures, would you????

My wife wanted some larger rear pegs. We looked all over and found some Harley Davidson Brake Pedal Pads that worked great. We bought them from the local Harley dealer. They are much larger and still fold up like the stock ones. She is happy with them.

DubT,
Thanks a lot for the great pics, the footrest looks great.
That would make it about 7/8 inch wider and 1/2 inch longer than original, which should help.
It looks like these attach with just one bolt in the center, so I assume you did have to drill a hole in the OEM bracket?
Were these actually packaged "Harley" parts, or were they an after market brand, and if so which brand?
Thanks a bunch,
Magna

Here are three pictures. The pedal is 2 3/4" wide and 4 3/8" long. All I had to do was get two new bolts.

Harley Parts?

I see you did not read the fine print of your contract when you purchased your ST.

It clearly states: "no HD parts to be added to the ST1300 otherwise your warranty is void due to the highly contagious nature of any HD part no matter how small or insignificant it may seem."

Your ST is now contaminated and will experience issues typical of HD's... parts falling off, difficulty starting, incredibly bad handling, and the unmistakable odor of oil being toasted from numerous engine leaks.

Recommendation: as quickly as possible find another peg solution!!! Save your ST!!!

OTOH, HD riders should now wave at you. :D

I'll give it a go if ya want.

Does anyone have an extra passenger footpeg (damaged is okay) that I can borrow for dimensions? Once I have the dimensions, the rest should be a piece of cake.

If you have any ideas of extras for the 1300 and you cant get the measurments before you get here in the UK. You can use my bike to work out anything you have in mind, just bring plenty of notepaper LOL

Eric, would be cool if you could come up with a clean, workable unit. I suspect many ST wives would thank you even if ST riders turn up their noses a bit.

Near as I can tell from studying the stock set up, if one simply puts a flat platform of reasonable size on a standard sort of peg set up, the board would rotate up at an odd angle to the frame since the stock pegs rotate up at a somewhat rearward angle. This would mean that some sort of double movement would be required for the boards to fold up cleanly.

If no one has a used page to donate I could put the calipers on one of mine and send you sketch with all the dims.

I'll see how much it costs to just buy one - if it's not too expensive, then I can just do that. Then you'd have to tell me large you want the floorboard to be and it';s done.

edit: the passenger peg is $27. If enough guys want this, I'll buy the peg myself and then split the cost of it between those that want a floorboard

I'll measure the wife's riding boots this evening and guesstimate from there what would be an appropriate size board.

OK, I measured up the Mrs.' boot and it looks like a platform about 7"x4" would be suitable. Naturally she'd like something the size of a Model T running board but she's outta luck there.

I used a set from J.C. Whitney on a 1983 V65 sabre for years, and my wife thought they were great. I kept the OEM passenger pegs mounted them in front of the regular small passenger pegs, and they folded up nice. (can't find a plave on the ST to mount them) They were made to attach to a 1 ince bar, but I just used half the round mount with longer bolts. They were 4 5/8" wide x 6" long, and had plenty of room. I think if they are the only passenger foot rests, and were too large, they mught be more likely to break when mounting the bike if you were not careful to keep the pressure directly over the stock mounting clips.
Picture of them are at: http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/...tom-0/p-2006697/N-111+10211+600014704/c-10111
