Normal Temp Gauge readings???

Slasher:

I bought a Rostra a few months ago but ran out of time to install it. I did add a "bellcrank" to the end of ther carb "disc" when I had the carbs off when I replaced the needles & seats, so I am all set to go as far as attaching the control cable. Where did you guys locate the control unit ? I was thinking of mounting mine up forward in the plastic to keep it away from the engine heat.

What did you use for the speed input ? I was going to tap into the ignition pulser. Did you use the DC tach voltage as any input ?

I'm sure the cruise will make a big difference when cruising. Now I have to almost constantly keep my eye on the speedo because with wearing earplugs, the speed can creep-up to 85 mph too darn easy.

I came from riding a Springer Softail before the ST. It had a "nice" buzz in the bars about 78mph so I knew when I was getting close to a ticket. The ST feels the same at 60 as it does at 85 so cruise was an important addition. Did you get the electronic Rostra? I've heard of people mounting their "brain" in the tail or the front fairing. On the vacuum units the best place to mount the servo is on the left side, just in front of the foot peg, under the plastic. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1370094863.748856.jpg
Then you run the cable under the bike and back in on the right side to have a nice straight pull on the bell crank. You may be able to put the electronic version in the same location.

Yup, I got the electronic Rostra. These damn ST1100's - smooth as silk from 60 to 85, damn !! Too easy to get a ticket w/o a cruise control.

I'll check out that location you used and see if there is enough space for the control box if the location up front doesn't work out. Thanks.

Just to let anyone who is thinking of using the ccs100 cruise from Murphs Kits, If you are using a WigWag on your brake lights, you may have a problem turning the cruise on. not saying you cant continue using the WIgWag and the cruise at the same time, but for some reason the one i installed wouldnt ""set" because there was voltage on the brake light wire, which wont let the cruise come on. I took the WigWag out, and then the cruise worked fine.

Yes, but there is a simple work around with a relay. There are some good threads on the subject around here somewhere. As I understand it, you would also need to add the relay if you have any kind of LEDs in the brake system as well.

Normal for the 1100

the 1300 stays at 3 bars for a wide lattitude of temp... the temp isn't really the same
I'd guess that 3 bars is anywhere from 160 to 210

My Honda Si the cold light goes out at 160 the hot light comes on at 240

This thread did pretty well, made it to about post #14 before it went to hell, usually it's about post #7.

Then post 28 came along with so much insightful information on the topic that we all just went gaagaa with our newfound knowledge! :sly:

We all just like hearing ourselves talk. Next week we will chime in on a new thread of the same topic, and maybe we'll make it to 15.:D

To the op, I think we are mostly in agreement if you haven't already figured that out...go ride that beast and have some fun!
