Good morning everyone

I'll bet by the time I get this posted someone else will have scooped me but there's nought on the table yet so here you go: fresh hot French roast. There's a stability to it, continuity and predictability, that has sometimes been absent when others have stepped up. On a Monday, though, I think comfortable familiarity and reliability may carry the day, don't you?

Anyhow, it's 25°F and clear in Rockville, but feels like only 19 thanks to a 4 mph W breeze. The "high" will be just 36, but at least it'll be sunny. A picture's worth more words than I plan to write:

The local sister-in-law stayed overnight, ahead of a minor procedure scheduled for this afternoon to correct a drooping eyelid. She'll remain here tonight and return home tomorrow.

I feel an episode of baking coming on; it'll be either cheese bread or cheese muffins. I'll try to time them so they're fresh and warm when the SIL comes home. Before that, uke practice.

Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love them.

Thx Keith for a reliable coffee start!

Thx @Mr ed for the Coldplay quote!

8˚c/46f, 40mph wind from north, 60mph later, showers.

Just came come after bicycling for groceries.
There’s plenty wind when you have to pedalling down hill.

A bit of concrete chisseling, a bit of note writing for a guest bassplayer in the choir, plenty.

Yesterdays restaurant visit with extended inlaw family was ok, good food and plenty (I was veery hungry after my demolition project).

Have a good one!
Stu

Good Morning All!
Thanks Keith for getting the pot STarted this morning.
Hank said to say; "Thanks for trying out the Hot and Bothered coffee" yesterday.
Hey, if you have any of that cheese stuff baked - PUH-lease add to today's table!
(Keith makes a darn good pizza, BTW)

Cold in Paradise this morning. 33 Heits on the tempometer with less warmth than yesterday.
What's that about eh?

The trees here on the farm are pretty bare - nonetheless they are stubborn.
I expect like every year, I'll still be blowing their leaves away in January.

Yesterday my lovely wife and I went to one of those holiday arts and crafts shows in Raleigh.
I looked everywhere, but there were no tractor parts or even tools.
Mostly waaaaay overpriced snacks, ornaments, and do-dads for your house.

Today, hmmm putting up the tree, removing the myriad of boxes and hanging stuff.

What'er you up to?

Y'all have a winderfill day!

I'll do that, but you'll need to try back later this afternoon because I want it coming out of the oven not long before the SIL gets back from a 1330 surgery appointment. Let's aim for 1500 hours.

Been up for a while but didn't want to be first today.
So if y'all run out of FR brew(which is deeply appreciated)
I've got the remains of some Dark here in the pot.
Still no snow to speak of in our immediate area, but
still below freezing for the foreseeable future.
Should be getting the IFS for the van this week, ahh then
the fun begins! Pics will follow.

Y'all have a great day1

hugs of course

Dave

Morning all and thanks for the coffee Keith. I mean it doesn't taste like normal as of late, but it'll do.

A cold, icy -4C here today for the drive in. Quite slippery still. We'll see a sunny high of 1C supposedly.

Hey Stoo, your post this morning got me thinking. A bassist in a choir? Just by off chance, is a choir another term for a band in Norway, or are your choir practice actually vocal performances at a church?

Have a super day everyone.

Obo

Thanks for the stability and the coffee, Keith. We need some stability here down South, because the overnight temperatures will be dropping out the bottom several nights this week.

Woke up to 32 today. And that's FREEZING. I don't like freezing, unless you're talking about ice cream.

Because warm ice cream is just wrong.

Good morning and thanks for the FR this morning Keith!
You are correct, a Monday should start comfortably and predictably!
Currently it is 15F (-9.4 of those centi things) and should hit 32F with a few clouds.

A couple errands this morning and then a few hours in the woods this afternoon attempting to ambush a deer should round out my day.

Be careful, be safe, and just make today a good one for all!

Scott

Ta me duck, French Roast it is. You're the mahn.
Yes you are, don't be shy.
I was absent yesterday, I sent a note. Nothing exciting, I wasn't rushed to a hospital gripping my chest or fly off to Lapland for the day. I was on Uncle duties, pffffffftttttt.
Look after the kids, put the mirrors up in the new house, what about the bog roll holders and the coat rack. The outside light doesn't work and those bikes won't hang themselves on the wall. Pffffffftttttt. When did folk become useless? Pffffffftttttt.
The weather today is splendiferously average. Cold, wet and blowy. It's brrrrrrrr. I don't know how brrrrrrrr because I can't be arsed to look. Sadlsor wouldn't like it. It's not a good day to get a haircut but I did anyway.
Got cold ears now. Meh.
Av a gud un and remember, put big screws in for mirrors.
Upt.

G'day all, and thanks for the hot coffee Keith. It's a balmy -10c here this am with 15cm of snow. Good thing I made a batch of thick and rich chicken stew last night, A warm bowl and some fresh sourdough goes perfect with the coffee. We now turn the channel to snowmobile from motorcycle. have a great day all, be safe.

Good morning, and thanks for the coffee, Keith.

It's 22 and sunny in MA this morning, rising to 38, later.
The weather forcast is for some snow around Thursday.

Almost none of our/my plans for yesterday came to fruition, so we'll try again, today.

The contractor is here tearing apart the subfloor in the kitchen, and I have high hopes of having a new one by the end of today.
Brenda informed me that TODAY is actually laundry day, so the laundromat is where she'll be.
I have leftover corned beef hash and fried potatoes, that I'll nuke, once Freya wakes up and gets off my lap.

Enjoy the day,
Steve

An actual choir, performing vocals in churches and other places, usually with me accompaning on piano.
We’re happy to include a bass and drums on special occasions.
Would shure love that to be the ordinary setup, but it’s difficult to find anyone who will commit themselves for a longer period of time.
If Mr Fun is relocating eastward, I will ask him to join us on his ukulele.

Good morning, all, and thanks for the coffee, Keith! I'll stop by for a piece of cheese bread or a muffin later, if that's all right!

Whelp, it's here. Yes, "meteorological winter" started yesterday, but I'm talking about the real McCoy. The flakes did finally come down yesterday, and it's cold enough that it stuck. There isn't a lot of it yet, but I now see a blanket of white when I look out the window. It's actually a very pretty winter's day: plenty of sunshine, sparkly white snow and little birdie footprints where the sparrows have visited my balcony. It's brrr, though. As in "normal" brrr, like it's supposed to be in December; won't get above freezing today. The current temp of -3°C/27°F with a feels-like of -7°C/19°F will eventually rise to -1°C/30°F with a windchill of -5°C/23°F.
Yesterday's hike was very enjoyable indeed. I seem to have gotten the layering exactly right, as I was warm enough when we got moving. We inadvertently did an extra "loop" by taking a longer route than we'd intended, so we wound up doing approx. 9 km (round about 6 miles). That may have been the last "walk" of the season - depends on how snowy/icy the trails get from here. Doesn't mean the group will stop gathering, it just means that hiking boots will be replaced with cross-country skis/snowshoes/crampons for the next few months. None of my gear is ready...must get that sorted.

Right, must get myself organized. I have a day off today, but lots to do, lots to do. Everyone have a good one, stay safe and go safely.

Patty

G'Day...

-2°C zis mornin', thick fog...

thus lots of those morons driving around:

469005707_1995526890869432_7241670269891933538_n.jpg

hence: incoming!!! take cover!...

The other half obviously thought: hey! Lets turn on all the lights on my car...
Nice, as if LED headlights aren't bad enough, has half of the population decided to turn on their fog-taillights too... brilliant, just brilliant! :cautious:
Mind that they'll now stay on till summer next year... or the next MOT/tech inspection... despite the orange indicator lamp in their instrument cluster...

managed to get to my workplace unharmed... on my second mug of mud...

addressing this thread though with:

have a great day, and stay safe out there...

If Mr Fun is relocating eastward, I will ask him to join us on his ukulele.

Thanks for the invitation but (a) I'm nowhere near ready to play in front of anyone else, and (b) if/when I relocate east it'll also include a shift to the south, perhaps waaaaayyyy south like Australia or New Zealand. There ain't no way in the world I'm moving anywhere close to the Arctic Circle, especially at this time of year. Sorry, Stoo.

G'mornin' from SoMD! Good coffee is sorely needed after a nice 5-day weekend, thank you! Got stuff done, fixed the car brakes, did a lot of tinkering, and managed to not piss anybody off (other drivers don't count). And while driving yesterday, I managed to see a few snowflakes flutter through the headlight beams...yup it's begun and a bit earlier than usual this season.

Now it's back to work and doing what someone else wants me to do for them instead of for myself. Eh, I suppose I should being I have bills to pay. Take care y'all!
