New G6 H4 with SHIELD is now availible - no glare no scatter.

Paul - Was the reason for removing the ABS computer to get more working room?

Yes. The ABS computer doesn't interfere with the installed LEDs (IIRC, they are mostly below it), but removing it makes it much easier to get your hands and/or a mirror in from the top.

Another point for the ST1300...the ABS computer is in the back with the ECM...:D

But we don't have to work on it and if we did it would be right there, easy to get to ...

I did have to work on the 2010 St1300, it wasn't working when I bought the bike crashed. Took me two minutes to swap it out.. most of that time was removing the saddles...;)

Nice deal Phil. If you end up bending the bails, take some pics and teach us how to do it.

I've got a 'spare' headlight assembly, so I am going to play with it a bit before I do the 'for real' installs. I'll get back with what I come up with.

Now that I have these in my hands, questions -

1. It appears that you pull the metal 'base' off and install it first. Do you cut off the lower two tabs just like you do for a regular H4 and fit the adapter rings on the base before the install?
2. Is the next step to fit the rubber boots back on?
3. Then insert the unit through the boot?

I'm still sorting the 'bail' issue. What would be neat if you could fabricate a new 'base' (since it is held onto the plastic with 2 screws) in the ST format instead of the H4 format. That would make it really sweet. I'm still thinking about a better 'solution' for locking the bulbs down than the 'bail'.
