A 33 year old in Seoul was killed when a sink hole opened up in front of him. It was captured by a dash cam behind him. The woman in the car ahead of him was also injured.

Scary stuff!

A second rider coming the other way narrowly avoided it as it opened further.

I had a friend in one of the prison ministries I was involved in die from riding into an open manhole.

It wasn't as obvious as you might think from reading that. He had a HD, hardtail, I believe. He'd gone out to breakfast and had a full stomach. The manhole cover wasn't on properly and when he ran over it, his front wheel went down into it.

That by itself wouldn't have killed him. But he aspirated that breakfast and that killed him.

That line at the end of the old western movies keeps coming to mind, "Prepare to meet your maker." None of us knows the time or how we will die.

Airbags have some merit, but who will invent a helmet featuring a powerful drone on top which will automatically deploy in an emergency, lifting the rider up and away from danger?

All good until it rips the head from the body in error...

RIP the rider!

On my trip back from Illinois the other day, it was dark and I hit a place in the road (I70) that had buckled.

I think if I would have been on a bike, my outcome would have been totally different, than being in my truck.
