Good morning and a very happy new year to all followers of the Julian Calendar. The Isle of Foula is one such place in wee bonny Scotland. I'll put the Italian Dark Roast on in celebration.
It's a wee island with about 40 residents in the far North of Great Britain and lies roughly on the 60th parallel. So proper Upt'North then.
It's coffee time then and my new year seems months old already, but I'm glad it isn't. The weather for the new day is mild and it might get rainy with a 40 + mph blow from the West. I may go out and clear some scrub if it stays dry.
Av a gud un and remember, they're celebrating somewhere.
Upt.

And a happy nude deer to you as well.. :deer1:

Monday... office... work... yuck... where is my :coffee: ?!
Both, ze strong Nespresso as well as the office instant sludge already wearing off again... o_O
~-1°C in ze morning, won't see more then +1°C...
gray, overcast, windy...

Busy weekend though...
Saturday, -2°C/+4°C, strong, gusty winds:
first some addition works in the hallway; extended the shelf for her helmet, installed a seat/bench underneath (cushion already ordered)
then ze GF decided to wash her NT700...
So we both went out, me to the (automated) car-wash, she to a different place hosing down her motorsickle...
She really did only a short rinse, f_cold with the winds blowing through that space...
(I, wisely did clean my ST right after returning from last years trip... :sneaky: )

Sunday, -1°C/+5°C, a little less windy: GF decided we relocate her NT700 to the bike shed...
So we went there, while the engine still warm I did an oil change, while handling the filter wrench I dropped the 17mm spanner into the drip-pan... splash, "in your face"...
2.8ltr 5W30 + filter...
Gave it a brief overlook (still found 'some Scotland' on that undercarriage... ;)):
head bearings due, rear pads <50%, tires due, brake caliper pistons reluctant to get pushed in by hand, hence likely an overhaul due...
Open tasks:
replace front fender (damaged), install additional horns (+ wiring & relay), install heated grips (wiring already done, second handlebar avail for quick swap)
She plans to do some paint touch up on the pannier lids, + a new set of bumper protectors (one torn off during an urban dog-fight with a cab...)
So plans for next w/e are already set... except the tires all parts on stock...
Methinks she's eager to get riding again... but I don't think its gonna happen soon, forecast shows its getting even colder this week...

stay warm!

Thx Ray, and happy new year again!

Suddenly 6˚c/43f, rain, 15mph breeze from south.
Driveway is now ice covered with water, dangerous for the elderly.

Out of the blue, my brother called last night, haven’t seen or heard from him in eight months…
Said he had been fishing, you want some?
Yes I did, so today is make fillets of haddock and cod, and maybe some fish broth.

Have a good one!
Stu

@Whisker Bill Any mooses on St Kitts?

good morning all. thank you Ray for the coffee. 34F on the dog walk with a full moon that was so bright it took away the stars. if you looked really hard you could make out a star here and there. today is gym day this morning. so there goes my morning but I still have the afternoon with a high of 55F to find something to get into. enjoy the day.

stay safe

Good morning everyone

Thanks for the Italian dark roast, Ray, and for the timely tidbit about the calendar. I had no idea there were any holdouts for the old calendar but wasn't surprised to learn where it is. NOBODY is gonna tell THEM what day it is, evidently.

a full moon that was so bright it took away the stars.

Reminds me of the ditty my Dad used to sing when overnight guests appeared, bleary-eyed, for breakfast.

Good morning merry sunshine
What wakes you up so soon?
You shine away the little stars
And scare away the moon.

It's 26°F in Rockville and feels like ... 26. Partly sunny skies and a high around 44 should make a nice mild day. On my to-do list is a trip to the big box home improvement store to get enough of that clingy heat-shrink plastic to seal up the windows, ahead of another plunge in temperature beginning tonight. I can feel cold air seeping in throught he window in my home office, particularly when the wind is from the west. This is something I should've done ages ago, and should be an annual ritual. Still, better late than never I suppose.

Other than that, and uke practice, I got nothin'.

St5ay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love them.

Morning all, and thanks Ray, for the coffee and useful? information.

-11 and dark, but the moon can be seen thru the frozen haze. Headed to a cloudy -2 later on.

Keeping in line with Martin, new things arrived on the weekend for Arty. They include: RAM phone mount, a locking RAM knob, a Kury tie down bracket, and a Goldstrike knock-off tie down bracket.

Also ordered some more goodies: Carlinkit 5.0, some trailer wiring, and a new flashlight.

Here's the wee beasty.

And I do mean wee.

Hope you all have a great day!

Good morning all!
Thanks for the start Ray!
We’re 424 nautical miles from Basseterre, St. Kitts this morning. We’re steaming @ 18.4 knots, so tomorrow morning we’ll be in port.
I’m not going to loose any weight on this cruise… apparently it would have been prudent to not try to drink so much last evening, who knew? Pffft!
The ship had an amazing show in the theatre!
Young people!! So agile!! Double Pffft!!
Happy Birthday @nicksacco!
@STooRay
The last time I set foot on St Kitts I didn’t see one moose track, I’ll check again this time.
In any case, keep an eye on the moose’s ears & hump! If the ears are laid back on the neck & the hackles are standing up on the hump, you need to get clear - now!
You’re in serious trouble! :well1:

Currently 77F smooth seas, breakfast is calling!
Oh look a mermaid!

Good morning, and thanks for the coffee start, Ray.

It's clear and 21, rising to 41 in MA today.

We're getting the house back to normal, and it's starting to look pretty good, again.
I got up early this morning, in case the contractor stops by at his normal time. I just needed to remove the dowel from the door track to unlock it.

We'll do more organizing, and I'll try for a walk and gym visit.

Enjoy the day,
Steve

Another late start for me and yes I'll have a cup of that Italian Dark Roast. thanks Ray. Again 40s and 60 here in central Florida.

Today we get sorted for tomorrow's 0 dark thirty departure for home. After lengthy discussion with my co-pilot the Doberman we have decided to rent a car for the trip instead of putting 2500 miles on my Ridgeline. I need to pack the car and remember all the things that are stashed in my car/truck like a wool cap and gloves for the northern part of the trip.

I better get to it. Enjoy the day everyone for tomorrow we may drive. Remember to be safe out there.

Yeah! I’m late! That means I was able to sleep until dawn. Thanks for the coffee, Ray.

29 and still snow covered. It’s hanging around, worse than in-laws at dinner time. The sunny high of 39 should take care of most of it. Yesterday’s sun, and high of 44 pretty much cleared the roads.

It’s looking like a household chore day, so I better get started procrastinating before things get out of hand.

Ride safe

That’s a great feeling to settle back into your abode! Enjoy your efforts!

Good morning, all, and thanks for the coffee and edification, Ray!

Looks like we have another snow day. The white stuff has been coming down for a while now, and they say it will keep falling until sometime tonight. It isn't terribly cold today, all things considered: the temperature will hover around -5°C/23°F with a feels-like of -11°C/12°F (with a variation of a degree or two, either way) pretty much all day.

Happy Birthday, @nicksacco! We miss your 'creative' coffee brews!

Everyone have a great day, stay safe and go safely. And remember, you can't Foulall of the people, all of the time.

I’d wait not much point in procrastinating right away!!

Wow Donk!
Are you certain you want to do this?
It’s cold up there!
Safe travels!

It turns out that 26°F feels... dang cold. Who knew?
Well, *I* knew that, and I still know it. Really, I would have told you -- but you never asked.

Good coffee Ray, and I thank you. I have not tried another of the assorted box of coffees in a bag. At least i put the right amount of water in it, but it was just lousy and lame in the taste department, unlike our (and my) usual brews.

Our 4 inches of snow has all nearly melted away, and I say good riddance. That's how it usually happens in Alabama, here one day and gone the next. Streets were clear after one day, and only little patches of the mess in some folks' yards, where it stays in the shade.

Enough about the weather... the weather is here, wish you were beautiful. And it's time for work.

Our anger and annoyance are more detrimental to us than the things themselves which anger or annoy us.

Another chilly day in the PNW, and WOW!! The moon, like a big pizza pie! My better half was sittin out in the front room in the dark admiring the sight along with Venus. At least thats what she said.

Well good morning and thanx for the tasty blend Ray! 29f all the way to 38 today, light breeze. A bit of reading this morning, a coffee meet up with the guys down at the local McDs after awhile to continue our dialogue on all things cars and bikes.

Have a decent day and stay warm!
Tim
