Monday coffee and weather, 31 March

Think people are getting a bit carried away. Yes, you need an ETA to enter the UK just as I, as a British passport holder, need an ETA to visit Canada or an ESTA to visit the USA. We were due to need an ETA to enter the EU, but that seems to be slipping month by month due to techical difficulties on the EU side but it is coming. It's just a few minutes on a computer to apply and is valid for 2 years. @ST1100Y EU, US and Canadian passport holders don't need the 'Standard Visa'.
But for what purpose are you doing that?
The fact that Canada, the US, or whatever other country does it is a poor argument in favour of doing it, nor does it make it a good idea. Unless it is serving some invaluable purpose that is not better served in any other way I don't think that those countries should be doing it either. Having this ETA in-hand in advance does not assure a traveler that they will be granted entry to the UK upon arrival, so I don't know what purpose it does serve.

psst.... Britain is still part of Europe.

I thought that Britain had historically steadfastly asserted that it is NOT "part of" Europe (even pre-EU and Common Market), but is simply BRITISH. Perhaps I have labored under a misapprehension all these years. You actually live there, so you're better informed than an iggernant colonial such as myself, of course. I'll yield to the better-informed.

Rain in the forecast for tomorrow, but like always, I don't count on it until it's on the ground!

We're actually getting rained on right now, for the first time in weeks, maybe more than a month. We really need it, and since my round of golf ended hours before the rain began it's all good by me.

I’m here, I’m here!
What a mess here!
I got to use the chainsaw today.

The tops are off two cedar trees on our property and another small cherry is down!

I’ve been working on generators all day! We now have a generator running, the power has been off since we got home yesterday, it is supposed to be coming back on Wednesday @ 6 PM

Wow Brian, sounds like a mess. Good thing you're able to handle it! :thumbsup-2x:

Well, since we DIDN'T get much of any rain or snow, since October, we are in need of all the rain we can get.

So we are hoping for some good rain, and not this drizzle that we have been getting! :pray1:

Indeed... and the ceremonial opening of the Channel Tunnel was addressed as "...shocking!..." by HRM...
But for what purpose are you doing that?
- decrease the number of tourists invading
- revenue
Both logical conclusions:
the NC500 (originally intended as scenic motorcycle route) is gridlocked by RVs, caravans and rental cars... took us (on motorcycles) >30 minutes to leave Neist Point again...
Empty state coffers due to BREXIT... visual by the decaying condition of public infrastructure...
