Longevity of Road 6

I am on my third set of Michelin Road tires on my ST1300. First set (Road 5GT) went 14k. Second set (Road 6 nonGT) went 14k. I I am on my third set (Road 6 nonGT but CT++ front and rear) and at 3500 miles the front is worn down to 5/32s and the rear at 6/32s is only slightly better. It doesn't look like these tires will go anywhere near 14k. I am stumped. I do not think it is tire pressure (I run 42) and my riding style has not changed. I ride 1 up. I have a 6k trip to Hyder, Alaska later this summer and am loosing confidence the Road 6 will go the distance, especially the front (weird). I love these Road tires, but only if I get higher mileage. Is this a fluke? Do these tires wear faster at first and then better the second half of their life?

I generally get 9500 from my Road6s on my 2007 as well as my 2003. That's running 42/42.

It is my understanding that GT tires are heavier than non GT tires (rubber compounds might be different too). That might explain the diff in mileage. You said "Road 6 nonGT but CT++ front and rear", I don't understand. CT usually means car tire.

In Michelin parlance 2CT+ is a carcass construction detail that takes 2CT (2 Compound Tread) to the next level. With 2CT+ Michelin takes the hard compound making up the center of the tread all the way out to the edge and overlays it with the soft compound making up the outside edges. 2CT+ was debuted in the Road 5 rear tire. The Road 6 put 2CT+ in the front tire. 2CT+ largely eliminated the odd lumpy wear patterns common to Pilot Road series dual compound tires.

This is strange wear but I note that the Road 5/6 fronts start at 5/32" tread IIRC and rears at 10/32". That doesn't explain the rear tire's faster wear at 3500 miles. I get 12-15,000 miles out of Road 5s on my RT and NC. My favorite tire of all I have tried.
