I have a pristine K1100RS with not a scratch on it anywhere, very rare, with all the factory accessories. Saddlebags, liners, tank bag that could all three pass for brand new. 22L trunk.

Sent it all in and they rejected the listing.

Listed a R1100S with them some time back that was not as nice as this one and it sold no problem.

Anyone else run into this before?

They didn't tell you why? I have no idea how they operate. The picture you posted kinda makes it look like the left side is 2-3 different shades of paint. I know it's a shadow, did they? Ask what the problem was?

BAT reply:

Thank you for taking the time to complete the submission form for your K75S. It looks like a fun motorcycle and I'm sorry that we won't be moving forward with a listing.

To give you some additional perspective, we are a curated marketplace and are very selective with the vehicles we accept for auction. Our main focus is on vintage automobiles, and while we list motorcycles and have riders in the office, we list bikes less frequently and therefore are more prudent when reviewing them. Unfortunately, this means we are often faced with the difficult decision of turning down nice bikes from good owners like yourself.

In general, we tend to select well-presented enthusiast vehicles that are not readily available on the used market. We appreciate the merits of your BMW, and our decision does not mean it isn't desirable. As much as we hate to pass on any listing, it is a necessary part of our curation process.

We truly appreciate every submission and would enjoy working with you in the future. I hope you continue to enjoy the site.

Paint is all original with nary a scratch anywhere. Very odd to find an old K bike without damage from a drop or mirror scrape. This is my sixth K100RS/K1100RS and this one is far and away the best preserved of any I have had. Looking back at some of their previous K bike listings there are some pretty rough ones sold not near as nice as this one. Oh well, no big deal one way or the other.

I know nothing about these BMW's but I assume that these are two different models.
Did they even know what submission they were responding to? Maybe the response that they sent to you was intended for someone else. Would make me wonder.

I did ask for reserve. After declining the listing I asked if no reserve would change their mind and it did not.
Interesting... sounds like you covered my possible obstacle. Maybe they have a simple algorithm into which they feed certain data. I could be wrong, but I don't think the resident bike guy/gal is that broadly knowledgeable. I used to frequently catch mistakes in their descriptions despite the copywriter supposedly getting the details from the seller before posting the listing.

Respectfully, assuming you provided the photos, how was your image-based curb appeal? No offense intended, but the image you imbedded above was a bit mundane for that bike. I've only sold one high end vehicle on BaT at a time there were a lot of them in the used market, and my reserve was a bit on the high side as a reflection of low mileage and condition, but they accepted it immediately and listed it faster than normal. I did make sure to provide very nice photos of the car, and I made sure they were better than that of the photographer they were intending to send over. Not sure if this would make a difference for you, but based on their reply, I disagree with the validity of their rejection (not that it matters).

This actually surprises me. I check out BAT almost daily and some of the vehicles aren’t all that special (like old Accords and the like)- that BMW looks actually quite nice so I’m surprised they didn’t allow the listing. I guess the STs we have here would never qualify.
