Just had my first ride EVER on an ST1300! Question about Clutch

The adjustable clutch lever also aids in low speed maneuvers, as you can adjust the friction zone closer to the handlebar.

My wife absolutely loved when I installed the adjustable lever on her bike. I installed an adjustable lever on mine too & like it better than the stock lever.

Which ones/brand did you eventually end up using?

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who answered my original question! I think I know what I've got to do now, I'll be looking at some different adjustable levers. That's all I think I really wanted.

Here are some pictures of the new ST1300 that just showed up in my garage a couple of weeks ago!

I used Honda part number 53180-MEJ-006 on my wife's bike (~ $30). I used an aftermarket one on my bike made by Emgo (~$13 delivered). There is hardly any discernible difference between the Honda & Emgo when placed side by side.

That's a great looking '03, did Santa come early this year?

As a Jewish person, Santa never seem's to visit... But, I did get approval from the wife (And I already have another motorcycle) so if anything, she has given me the gift of being a husband with 2 motorcycles in his garage, for that I am ever so thankful.

Look at the positive side of things - you can spin the dreidel this month, and if the correct side comes up, go buy a new farkle or other bit of chozzerai for the new bike. :)

Older thread, I know, but I wanted to call attention to a bit of misinformation that's all over the internet.
I did a searches for "specs" and "specifications" for a 2007 ST-1300, and while I was looking at weight,
I just happened to notice that ALL THREE of the top websites that gave me specs in English units of measure...
... ALSO stated that this bike has a CABLE OPERATED CLUTCH.
Of course that's wrong, totally, flatly, wrong.
(Isn't it??)
Aren't all ST-1300's made with a hydraulic clutch system that has a master cylinder up on the handlebar that uses
DOT-4 brake fluid, and a slave cylinder attached to the crankcase down underneath the bike?

Yes, they all do.
There is lots of misinformation in both car and motorcycle magazines, which they have no excuse for doing.
For sale ads can often be a source of humour as well. I just saw one a few days ago for a 2005 ST1300 that was advertised as having a semi-automatic transmission.

When in doubt, just ask AI like I did here:

""""Yes, the Honda ST1300 motorcycle has a cable-operated clutch; it utilizes a traditional clutch cable to connect the clutch lever to the clutch mechanism.""""

.......or maybe not!

It pays to do your own research and the internet doesn't change that. The internet is great for sources of info but critical thinking is still required to corroborate separate sources.

It is semi automatic. You pull in the clutch, snick it in gear w/ your foot, and let out the clutch. What could be more semi than that?

More semi would be shifting while having no clutch like the old Honda mini trails for one.

I'm seriously done with the crap AI that's overtaking the YouTubiverse within the past year or so. Garbage, content-absent videos using the same authoritative AI voice-over with no real substance. They're easy to spot if you're familiar with the subject matter being BS'ed, but I fear for the uninitiated that will be mislead. Many products of AI video generation are truly entertaining and are a hoot to watch. Some are informative too, but they're rare in my experience. Check out the AI Ice skating and platform diving videos for a laugh and a scare.

At the moment it's still reasonably easy to separate the wheat from the chaff... I mean how hard is it to spell or keep track of the number of fingers or limbs on a human?

But before we know it they'll train their algorithms and correct these obvious errors that give away their AI roots. Then we're all screwed... :(

Many articles seem to be written by AI now as well. They state the same thing over several different ways without adding any additional information of value, just more drivel that only serves to extend the article to fill the space on the page. They expect that we won't notice I guess.

Not necessarily saying this is 'good' but I did start watching a bike restoration video by some guys in southeast Asia that used AI to add a voiceover track to the beginning of their video. It didn't ultimately add much to it, since the narrator referred to the bike as a car, but I got a glimpse of the potential for using it to span language gaps between cultures. I has potential. This was merely a rough example.

If I stumble onto a video with "AI" narration, I immediately stop the video & down vote. They are all a waste of time.
