It's Friday folks and tomorrow it's February, that's a good enough reason to celebrate with an Italian Dark Roast to start the day. So we will, or for the kids out there a Pepsi! Pffffffftttttt.
It's cool, but not too cool, it's wet, but not too wet and there's fresh snow above 2000ft. In metric, if you walk 2000 steps by placing your foot against your other foot end on and look back after those 2000 steps, it'll be nothing like that. You're welcome.
Pffffffftttttt.
Er'Indoors is away to Jumpy Up and Down Class at Berwick-upon-the-Tweed, bless er, I will be resuming paint brush duties presently and with enthusiasm. Maybe, maybe not. The brushes will be Harris No-Loss the brush of champions.......and reluctant unenthused amateurs.
Upon er triumphant return there will be a fresh pot.
Av a gud un and remember, it opens tomorrow with a brand new Canadian experience, you can sit in a freezer room at minus 25c for 30 minutes in just your undercrackers. It's just for blokes and has been nicknamed the Brass Monkey Experience......bring your own balls. It's the talk of England, don't miss it!

A bit drizzly today and the snow is slowly disappearing! Will get to the mid to high 40's
today. So many things I could be doing around here today and if I could have an outdoor
bonfire I know where I would start!

Hugs around

Y'all have a great day!

Dave

Hi everyone

Thanks for the coffee Ray.

It's our afternoon off, with nothing scheduled. We have 88 Fahrenheits surrounding us, and dry air under blue-but-smokey skies.

We started early (well, some did) by queueing to give alms to the local monks, around 0600 local time. The routine is that the alms givers line the roadside and dispense whatever they're giving into the monk's alms bucket, as the monks file past in silent procession. Feeding them is supposed to confer good luck on the givers. It'sa bit like Halloween except there's no noise and all the costumes are the same.

A few more photos from Luang Prabang before I disappear for the day.

Balls of silk waiting to be boiled, unraveled, and spun

I've lost track of which temple is which but they're all photogenic.

A Buddha, on the footpath up to the historical royal palace and stupa.

Some of the other guests relaxing after a day of touring.

They fill these things so full they have what looks like less than three inches of freeboard. A small ripple lapping over the edge would send the whole thing to the bottom faster than you could say "Oh crikey, we're sunk."

Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love them.

Good morning, For me the middle of the night,Sore throat woke me up,Neilmed nose and having a sleepy time tea with honey, that feels better. Doctors visit yesterday found out I have a pneumonia infection, more pills. Would explain why I feel tired. So last evening cut down my spare windshield, went well, now need to get fit to ride.IMG_6479.jpgIMG_6487.jpgIMG_6485.jpg

Bikes here work hard and don't always get a lot of love in return. A couple examples...

Coming home from shopping. At first I thought this was a small mattress but I think it's a load of drinks cartons. She's got two or three bags of food slung over her left wrist as well.
1080321.jpg

@Nashcat and @Flexit note the rigid attachment of the sidecar. Three shock absorbers and a small swing arm for the sidecar wheel take the strain.

"Ran when parked". But it's got a sidecar stuck on so who knows, maybe it still does.

Newspaper for a seat and water to lube the chain, I love it. I spose you've gotta be careful when you're sitting on the fuel tank. Arguably the best thing to do to a Chinese "Bog Seat", do you think those suspension upgrades were NOS.

"You can't buy happiness, but you can buy coffee, and that's pretty close."

G'Day...

already on my 3rd cup... Nespresso that is... :coffee:

took the day off, at home, waiting for that FedEx shipment...
Using the time to do the laundry, bake bread, throw new bed linen on, dull stuff like that...
Might do a grocery run in the afternoon... just as dull...
Maybe a run through the car-wash... even duller...
GF just "Telegram-ed" that the Costco sized Metro has a -15% sale on the entire range... so she might intend to drag me through there... most dull...

anyway, enjoy the start into the weekend!

Nice clear fluid in those reservoirs fella.
Either that or you forgot to fill em up.
:x3:

Morning all and thanks for the coffee Ray.

Anyone got any spare heat? -20/-27 and snowing. Headed for 1/-11 with more snow.

I'm glad this is January 97th! One more day and I might be like a thumb and middle finger forced apart with the middle finger striking the thumb pad.

Spent too many hours outside after work yesterday, snow blowing the yard and fixing the garage door. The door refused to open when I got home, and inspection showed the motor jamming. Once freed, the traveller would go all the way up and down when the door was disconnected, but under load if would only open 4 feet and would close to a 6" gap. I only fell off the ladder twice, missing the bottom rung each time. lol. I was bundled up like a bank robber in Alaska. Parka, ski bib pants, mukluks, snowmobile gauntlets, knit robber mask & ski goggles. Add in the hearing protection muffs and I'm sure I looked like even more of an imbecile that you all think I am. It's all done, well until I have to snow blow when I get home again.

Did I mention it's damned cold and the winds are wild and bitter on top of that? I did? OK, sorry.

Hope you're all enjoying your non Atlantic Canada weather.

Happy Friday!

Obo.

Well, boxes are here...

IMG_20250131_121618.jpg

almost as big as a fridge ;)

Guess I'm spending Sat & Sun in the shed then
GF's gonna be happy to see some progress on her mount...

I further used the spare time to charge the SENA helmet headsets, gonna need them rather sooner then later... ;)

cheers!

Greetings all, and thanks for the coffee, Ray.

I'd have said "good morning," but I'm afraid it isn't. I'm in the throes of the worst (by far) flare-up of arthritis in my hands I've ever experienced. I am in absolute, abject, screaming agony and no, that's not an exaggeration. Haven't slept all night, been alternating Advil and Extra Strength Tylenol every 4 hours, but it is having no effect whatsoever. Have to pick up a glass of water or cup of coffee with my wrists. Can't close either hand, left index finger won't bend at all and looks like a cocktail sausage. Typing makes me sound like "Rain Man" (ow...ow...ow...ow..).

Not as cold here today - cloudy and going up to just below freezing.

That's it, can't type anymore, hurts too much. Probably won't make it through the workday. The rest of you have a good one and send a good thought my way if you're so inclined.

Patty

@Peppermint Try a hot water soak, as hot as you can stand. My grandmother had rheumatoid arthritis something awful in her hands and she used to melt hot wax on the stove and dip her hands in it. The heat lasted a bit longer and it was good for her skin. Water's a poor substitute, but worth a shot if it helps a bit with the pain.

Patts, I think it's time to throw a sickie. And don't eat that finger by mistake.
I mean, who can resist a little sausage.
I'm seeing a day off in the near future, take care Patt'ster.

Good morning, and thanks for the coffee start, Ray.

It's cloudy and 30 this morning, going to 39 with rain predicted sometime today. Maybe some snow showers as well.

Yesterday, I dropped off Brenda's car to the shop, and continued to the gym.
The walk home was a bit brisk, but I refused Brenda's offer to come get me.

Today, I'll stop by for a haircut, do another gym visit, and then whatever comes next.

Patty, I don't know if you already use it, but Voltarin works on my arthritic knees, which are no where as bad as your flair up seems to be.

Enjoy the day,
Steve
