I have a set of https://a.co/d/7vfWnoT 4" hi and lo beam:

I really like them and ran them for 25k miles or so. I was looking for a bit more punch and went with some Hella. I didn't really love the round on the parade bracket, I always thought the ST looks good with round lights under the mirror. First problem is the configuration/ orientation of the lights, they are designed to mounted with the bracket on the bottom. I opened one up and saw that flipping the reflector was not a problem if I cut some metal for the power cables.

I took out the grinder and removed about 1/2" from the "front" of the plate so the wire can run through.

Put them back together and it all works as before, now the tricky part, I have the Parade bars coming out of the mirror covers and they limit my choices.

I know @Obo and @dduelin and others had a clever way to mount lights under the mirror using the mirror arm hole, my bracket bolt is blocking the straight thru. I've mocked up a little L bracket to see what I'm working with, it needs to be "shaped" to stay close to the fairing, not an easy task,

anyone have any suggestions to get this light down there? Thank you in advance.

I am pretty sure that I have read on here that some people have managed to install both the MCL under mirror brackets and the Police over mirror brackets at the same time. I'm not at my computer right now so I can't search for it for you.

Is that L bracket on the lower mirror bolt / parade bar bolt or somewhere else?

I had to notch my mirror cover for the "thru the mirror pivot mount" regardless.

I mounted the L on the lower bolt to get an idea of how much bending is needed, definitely want to make the mirror notch as small as possible.

OK. Time to over engineer the heck out of it.

You'll need a chunk of metal, bolts, nuts, washes.... file, drill & bits, welder or tap sized to the bolts. Maybe a grinder...

The goal is to put a block of metal with a hole in it, under the mirror. The hole allows you to install the bolt for the over mirror bracket & mirror.

The block is suspended from the mirror hole mount like I did.

The light then hangs off the bottom of the block.

You'd still have to trim a small square out of the mirror cover plastic.

Here's my design idea....

Cut the block to size to fit between the bottom of the mirror and the plastic. Make it wide enough you can drill a hole for the existing mirror bolt to go thru. Weld a bolt to the top to go up thru the mirror and put a nut on the top OR but the bolt down from the top and into a threaded hole in the block.

Weld another bolt to the bottom to slip the light mount over and secure with a nut OR use threaded rod (long bolt with head cut off) into a tapped hole in the bottom of the block and secure light to the other end of the rod with a nut.

Use washers / lock washers / light locking agent as desired/required.

In the end, your L bracket may be sufficient. You just need to see how much it flexes. Those L's usually just have a dimple or two in the 90* bend to make them a bit stronger, but they may end up flexing or at least vibrating at speed. As long as this doesn't translate into a shakey beam pattern that bothers you, or that breaks, then you're golden.

Imagine, if you will, the disassembly process required when the large side cowl needs to be removed for maintenance.

Or don't...

We always have to deal with the Law of Unintended Consequences.

Yes I need to remove my under mirror mounts if I want to take off the side panels, but given how much I need to take off in the process, what's a couple of more small steps??

I'd take those for the extra lighting I'd use about 99% more of the time.

I recall Bill Cosby released an album (When I Was A Kid?) where he had a bit about his dad's old movie projector light bars, something about them being hot enough to melt the chrome off a Kenworth truck bumper at 200 feet.

Hey, that's very similar to my idea., but 3D printed...

So much for my hopes to retire on the royalties.

I thought you were working on a new style laser pointer...

I THINK that I have a schematic with the dimensions of the MCL under mirror brackets if ever you want to consider having some made.
