Old: The Pearl Theater, Bonners Ferry, ID
New: S Drechsel Rd and W Missle Base Rd... (I'm back to the Missle Silos!)
Of the 8 Atlas E Missle Silos of the 567th SMS out of Fairchild AFB, Spokane, only one resided outside of Washington state. It was named for a nearby town in Washington, Rockford, but Site 3 Rockford Base was actually just over the WA border in ID.
The very first road available to go North after crossing into Idaho from Washington (WA State Highway 278/ID State Highway 58) is S Drechsel Rd and only 1/2 mile up Drechsel is Missile Base Road.
The map shows it extending out to Hwy 95, but it is an unimproved dirt road. From the Hwy 95 side there is a sign stating it is a summer road only, open from April to Sept. From the Drechsel Rd side it says Dead End and the farmer only paved to his house.
Since this is a PRIVATE RESIDENCE, I suggest taking a picture by the road sign and not going onto his property, even though (technically) it is a county road.
You can't see much at some of the sites. So goes underground missiles. But, you know it's there....
If you are coming from Coeur d"Alene, Hwy 58 is 22.5 miles South on Hwy 95 starting from where Hwy 95 turns and leaves town, crossing over the river.
