I get my kicks above the tree line sunshine!

But why Austrian passes are have to be paid for?
Their operated by (private) corporations...
- Großglockner-Hochalpenstraße
- Malta-Hochalmstraße
- Silvretta-Hochalpenstraße
- Felbertauerntunnel
are (high) alpine, mostly touristic used, scenic roads; maintenance, cleaning, clearing of snow, etc... take quite some financial efforts... hence the "outsourcing" to "road operators"...
Same with our motorway system, the road pricing is now run by a corp named ASFINAG...
How much of this are just state owned shell corporations, hence hidden taxes, is up to the respected reader...

Whelp, checked out of the hotel, there was two schools worth of teenagers in that he complex and it was creepy as heck, no swearing, no vomit, no loud music and no trying to shag each other in the corridors. It was like a scene out of “The midwhich cuckoo’s” all well behaved and sober…!

I love the silence on the top of a mountain. Going up in autumn means hardly any traffic, perhaps a car or motorbike every ten to fifteen minutes of so.

We had a much better time at ARcampstoc last weekend. All of that and wild animals making noises all night!

At least you all get what you pay for. Smooth roads, no gravel, well marked. Not so much here in Colorado. Mt. Blue Sky (Mt. Evans), Trail Ridge in Rocky Mountain Nat Park, and Pikes Peak are pay/pass roads to the top but conditions are touch and go from year to year. Pikes Peak being a Colorado Springs City run institution is a bit better then the others in condition. And one needs a reservation. Main issue is too many tourist.:)
