Yeah! It’s a long weekend. So kick the tires and light the fires.
I am heading off to the Groß Glockner.
First stop Sylvensteinspeicher and then Gerlos pass and now it’s time for another break.

Glad you're able to go. As you probably know, the Grossglockner has been closed to motorcycles and bicycles recently due to snow and ice, which are gone now. We were there mid-September on a warm a weekend day. It was quite busy at the top on the Edelwiesspitze, parking was tight. Enjoy your ride.

One night in Sylvensteinspeicher and the world's your oyster
One night in Sylvensteinspeicher makes a hard man humble
One night in Sylvensteinspeicher and the tough guys tumble
Can't be too careful with your company.

I hope you enjoyed all the rides in Sylvensteinspeicher Slammer.

!! :rofl1:

And now for the second best part of a ride out. Hotelbar and beer.
Generally as a rule I tend to stay at the cheaper end of the range, you know the ones… have a weird stain on the ceiling, threadbare carpet, some woman screaming for Vinnie to put the gun down and whatever you do..: Don’t look around the room with a black light!!
Seriously don’t, did that once just for the LOL’s, not going to do that again.
This place is quite nice though but at 80€ a night normally out of my price range.
But yolo and I was freezing and everything else is closed.

Just taking a stroll outside. The air is sharp and cutting cold coming down from the mountains, the winter king is making his presence felt. Not long now.
When you take a breath you can taste the cold and ice, almost tangible and on the edge of perception, but it’s there.
With each breath your brain recognises woodsmoke and food, somehow, together with the hint of cold the combination is calming and primordial.
Timeless.

Had the Schnitzel and Pommes, more beers than I should have had and now it is off to bed and a half hour of “Bernd das Brot” a sentient loaf of curmudgeon-y bread. If you have ever wondered about German humour then watch Bernd the bread.

Nice trip. But why Austrian passes are have to be paid for? And mind you a lot.
