Honda Averto Factory Alarm Install

Hello Andy:

Welcome to our forum community.

The closest thing we have to a manual is attached, in PDF format, to post number 16 on page 1 of this discussion. You might also find the installation instructions useful, they are attached to the first post on page 1 of this discussion.

Disconnect (or remove) the ST1300 AVERTO alarm

After re-starting Arod following a leave of absence, the factory-fitted Averto alarm's system battery is flat. This results in needing to repeat the Emergency De-activation and the Remote Control Registration procedure all of the time. (The Averto’s internal battery is failing to charge).

The following procedure studies @FL-STrider’s original post's photograph of the Averto cables. I dismantled the front light and instrument area and you shouldn't have to–unless you want to fully strip the Averto system from the bike. I've added an image of the Averto box location. Arod's Averto cables are firmly a part of his loom so I left it and its indicator light available to reconnect in the future.

I hope this is helpful. Please report errors.

Procedure
This procedure preserves the alarm system for when we know how to replace the Averto system’s rechargeable battery. It saves you the pain of digging under the dash too!
  1. Remove LEFT and RIGHT front side fairings (the biggest pieces of Tupperware).
  2. High on the LEFT side, under the sheath covering the harness connections, identify the Averto’s white connector, and then unplug it. (Image A).
  3. Behind and below that area, identify the Averto’s ground wire bolted to the frame, and then disconnect it. (Image B).
  4. High on the RIGHT side, uncover the sheath covering the harness connections, and then unplug the two red Averto connectors from the harness.
  5. Reconnect the two red connectors that belong to the harness. (Images C and D).
  6. Remove the rear and front seats.
  7. On the RIGHT side of the frame, identify the BLUE Averto magnet connector and the two white connectors beneath it.
  8. Unplug the two white Averto connectors from the harness, and then reconnect the two white connectors that belong to the harness. (Image E).
  9. Turn on ignition. The alarm should be silent and the red indicator lamp off.
  10. Start the engine. You are free of the alarm.
Bike: UK ST1300 A8 (White because it's still the fastest colour)

My second ST a 2014, bought in 2021 came with Averto alarm fitted. No issues so far, uses little current while idle during winter though I keep battery topped up from time to time. I noticed one of the fobs drops off after wintertime of inactivity and needs to be re-registered, which isn't a problem if you have instruction booklet at hand.
