Honda Air Filter Cleanable?

Just. ordered the 'Emgo' filter in UP's link from ebay. It was listed as Emgo. Now after ordering I see that the ebay listing does not now say Emgo.
It looks like the top one in Martins picture above. Not like OEM in lower picture.
I returned a Hiflo for some reason a few years ago. Maybe the same reason. I just requested a refund at ebay. We'll see how that goes.

I remember back in the '80s when you went for an oil change the routine was to use compressed air to blow the dirt off the filter. Ten years later they would no longer do that because the claim was that it could cause enough damage to the filter rendering it non effective. I don’t know if was a way to increase revenue or if it was factual. I would imagine that actually washing the filter material increases the possibility of damage.
I also remember blowing out the filters, it was wrong then. But that is what dad used to do, so? What has been made clear then and now, is that blowing it out causes the media to expand and allow more to pass through into engine with flow.
I also have read that according to Briggs and Stratton that one of the major failure of their engines was spark plug cleaners. When I went through training we did a quickie study and determined that cleaning the plug, reinstalling it, then changing it again because they were going bad sooner cost more than replacing them the first time.
Granted, this was done when plugs, wires, air filter, points, cap and rotor was the parts used for a tune-up. OMG things have changed, maybe some of this should be in "Remember When column."
Of course, I also remember valve jobs around 75000 miles and cars over 100000 were tabu when looking for used car.
