IS Max II for my wife and I. Comfortable, loaded with features and good price. As mentioned before a flawless record in tests for not opening. Our Sena intercoms fit well on them also.

No. We have worn some heavy helmets in the past. Todays helmets even with drop down visor and modular flip are not an issue.

I take it the cl-max was the model before the max 2 and max 3?

I suspect so. The label on the helmet just says "CL-MAX" (no numbers).

I have owned the HJC IS-Max2 for 4 years now. It is very comfortable but go a size bigger than you'd normally go for. It is not too loud, pretty decent for a modular I'd say. I came to this bike from a VFR800 which gets a lot more wind on the rider, still no issues. I don't open the visor much, I prefer moving the whole chin section and never had a problem even with gloves. The inbuilt sunglasses work as expected, pretty easy with gloves on too. I cheaped out and have installed BT-S2 headset for comms which work really well with this helmet ($27 on ebay).

I have a matte black which is a pain to clean, so stick with the glossy finishes I'd say.
