Have I told you how much I love Riding Colorado?

So I posted the same Ride Report and pictures on Face Book and now they have banned me for 30 days. Don't understand. Maybe anybody here that understands FB better than I can shed some light for me. They said I violated their Community Standards.

There's no rhyme or reason to FB anymore... there was probably a word or combo of them that got tagged, maybe one of the Meta Policy Po Po's didn't like your face? I only use it to keep track on my dad and other family members, rarely post anything. It's not what it used to be.

sounds like your a "Rebel without a clue" :rofl1:

I am wondering if the name MT Evans triggered them, as here in Colorado there has been legislation to change the name as it is office to the Native Americans. John Evans was the Governor involved with the Sand Creek Massacre. I think Mount Evans may be renamed 'Mount Blue Sky' under state proposal.

Their daughter, Anne, promoted Native American art and culture... I would hope they just leave it and recognize it under her name rather than his.

JMHO

Interesting and a bit baffling. I am now allowed to post on my FB page but my ride report post is gone. I guess they don't put it back up. I will put it back up again and see if they throw me back in jail.

I am out of Facebook Jail and my ride report of 19 April has been reinstalled by FB. No idea what happened but they need to fix their logarithms. Any way here is a new ride post from today. I rode my V-Strom.

Today 21 April 2022, another beautiful, clear, sunny, overly dry day in the mountains of Colorado. Although a bit windy, as a low pressure system is setting up for the weekend. 79 degrees in the city, and nice and cool in the High Country. Time to take another jaunt with the V-Strom. 220 miles of wonderful riding. Winds were not too bad in the foothills. Today's ride started out as a ride up along Peak To Peak highway via Golden Gate Canyon. Great cool ride up through the canyon along Highway 42. It intersects with 119 (Peak To Peak.) Rode along north thru high-speed sweepers and a few steep S curves until I got to Rollinsville. There I decided to turn around and GO RIDE Loveland Pass. (11990ft). Rode up through Black Hawk and Central City, two of the three legal Colorado gambling towns. (No I did not stop, for if I did I would have lost all the money I don’t have.) Down the mountain to I-70 at Idaho Springs and west to the turn off to Loveland Pass. Loveland Pass is a by-pass off of I-70 to go over the Continental Divide instead of through the Eisenhower/Johnson tunnels. All Hazardous cargo must go over the Pass instead of through the tunnels. It makes for an interesting drive for the Big Rigs. I rode up over the pass, got my pictures, it was a bit chilly at that altitude. Down the West side to Dillion and onto the Freeway for the ride back up through the Tunnels to the East side of the Continental Divide. From there I rode Freeway to Idaho Spring were I exited the Freeway and traveled secondary roads to Evergreen . Turned off at Kerr’s Gulch Rd. and worked my way to Indian Hills where I got a picture of the Message Board Sign. I have no Idea of the saying it had posted on it today. And then motored along highway 285 across town and home. All in all a great ride today before the weather turns and gives us some much needed rain this weekend. With the wind and the very dry April that we have had, makes for a very dangerous fire season.

Feeling a bit down today with all the lousy happenings in the news lately. Needed to get away from the City and People for a while today. Got to thinking about the post from Upt'North and his V-Strom, so I took my Wee out for a ride down to Deckers for brunch and then just fooled around along some of the little back roads along the South Platte River. I really like to ride in that area. Nice twisties, good elevation changes, and little traffic during the week. Today I did 170 miles and really improved my demeaner. Also the weather was great for riding. A bit chilly this morning but warmed up to a nice 60 to 65 degrees in the foothills and 70 coming across the City on the way home. Here are some pictures from todays jaunt.

Here is a little ride report that I did eight years ago. It came up on my memories on my Face Book page today. Thought I would share it here.

The sky was a deep blue, the sun was glistening off the newly sprouted green leaves of the aspen, my favorite music was lightly tickling my ears via my helmet speakers, and the Wee was purring along, effortlessly sweeping thru the corners of my favorite local backcountry roads. Today was a perfect day, to reflect on this past weekend’s true meaning.
After the long winter and very wet spring, the country side was awash in green (my favorite color, by the way). There were fields sprouting with spring flowers that I had never seen before in Colorado’s arid climate. The coolness of this spring morning was chilling my body as I gently piloted the Wee along the narrow string of pavement, called Foxton Road that follows the North Fork of the South Platte River. I love to ride this small bit of road in the early mornings. It is peaceful and very serine at eight AM . Sometimes I wish that I could afford a small cabin along the river and live out the rest of my days there.
Made a stop at a rustic bar and grill called the Buck Snort Saloon. It is tucked back behind, in the hills a mile or so, up a half assed paved road, (More dirt than pavement) from the hamlet called Pine Grove. Unfortunately it was closed this day. No lunch for me. This is a great little place to visit. Inside the walls are covered in dollar bills that previous patrons have pinned up with their name and place of origin written on them.
Enough words. It is getting late and I need to get home across town before Rush Hour traffic. Today was a “chamber of commerce” day for Colorado, I am very fortunate to be able to live and ride in God’s Country. Ride safe my friends.

Take a trip down memory lane (when a local Coloradan got us lost on the way to Mt Evans):

The day we got a police escort!

There’s a couple of other videos of interest on the Bill Rankin YT channel…
