Handlebar width versus grip

I bought some new Koso grips and removed the factory heated grips which included a left hand throttle setup. I seem to have too much bar length on the left. Not a little bit quite a bit. 3/4 of an inch to be exact. I purchased the larger 130 mm length . I probably slid the grip on farther than I should have. Close to switch pack but not touching. When I put the weight on the end I have a good inch of free space.
Partzilla shows both left and right weights as being the same part number. Wondered what everybody's thoughts are?

Without checking to see what the correct length grip for an ST1300 is, since your ST1300 is white I have to ask if it is a police version ST1300. If so, the handlebars are longer on the police version if my memory serves me well.

You are correct it is a police version. Any idea what the reasoning was for having the longer handlebars?

On the right side it is to accommodate a different switch pod. On the left side I'm not sure if the police version has a different switch pod so I can't answer that. There are quite a few people on here who have the police version, or who have added the police switches to a civilian version, or who have turned a police version in to a civilian version, etc.. I'm pretty sure one of them will be able to answer that question.

I have asked that, a couple of people have said there was, but I have never seen one on an 11 or 13.

Do you still have the old grip to compare its length to the Koso? I have the 130mm Koso grips on my civilian 2012 1300 and see no issues with grip length. @Andrew Shadow beat me to mentioning the point that police version left bar is slightly longer, by 15mm.

Yes. I still have the old grips and they were 130s as well.
I believe the left hand switch is the same as civilian on my bike anyway.
I was able to reposition it a little bit to make it look slightly better. I did drive in The Handlebar we attachment piece as far as it would go help as well.
