Half A Million Miles On ST1100s

Well, after reading his whole Highway 93 trip and seeing all those omelets with pig meat and the other gravy loaded meals he eats I am truly amazed he has made it this far. He must have found a way to drain that oil out his body! Wow, what a rider AND writer!
Keeps my replacement joints lubricated ... ;)

I'm right behind you at just under 30k, :rofl1: . That is an impressive number for a lifetime of riding let alone one type of bike. Wishing you many more miles.
Lifetime mileage is actually north of 620,000 miles. ;)
I have owned other motorcycles before ST1100s ....

I’m like this as well- not retired (yet) but maybe one day I’ll use them like they were designed to be used and really pack the miles on (currently at 48K on the 2000 and nearly 53K on the 94- my total miles on all bikes is only ~ 100K in 35 riding years). For UP, well done and glad you got all that riding in- I know the 2000 is a pre-owned bike, but did you acquire the other 3 as new?

Since 'half a million' sounds more impressive than '500,000' I'll go with that.
I was down to only 60 miles left so I took sort of a 'ceremonial' ride to finish it off.
I felt like RedBird - who started it all in 1997 - was the proper machine for this milestone.
And since I love the Natchez Trace it seemed like the proper place.
When I hit 100,000 miles on RedBird I was crossing the Trace bridge at highway 96 so I decided to do the same on this one.
I still own all four ST1100s that covered those miles and they are all in running, rideable condition.
I never heard the 'siren's call' to get something else as the ST1100 does all I need a motorcycle to do - move my body and move my spirit.
Will I make the second half million?
Probably not but we are sure going to give a good shot!
That is wicked cool! Congrats! Now, go get more!

Redbird was new, SweetTreat was new, Frost and BlueBelle were used.
Frost had 22,020 miles on her and BlueBelle had 35,050 on her.
So the total odometers between the 4 is actually 57,000+ more miles above 500,000. ;)
BTW, most of those miles were put on pre-retirement - the last 57,000 of the 500,000 were during retirement!

Now that you have a ST1100 there's better chance of you catching up ... ;)

HA! Knowing how much it costs to fully regenerate a ST1300 that has been sitting for awhile, tires, clutch, water pump, brakes, etc., etc., etc...

I doubt if I'll be putting too many miles on that bike. I'm hoping to get it running and then sell it.

Uncle Phil.
That's a definite milestone.
I can understand the calling of that 1100. I was very impressed with mine. Honda build a great machine. You for one and others have proven that. Congratulations.
Looking forward to seeing you at ONStoc. Ride safe my friend.
Dave

That is quite a milestone! Especially with some many of those miles pre-retirement. Just think how that would sound in kilometers!!
