Hello all, I am new here and just purchased an 08 ST1300. I don't like the grips (contoured) and want to change them for some straight ones. Will the 04 grips work/same size as mine?
Thanks much.

Yes, but you may want to try the BMW sport grips first, as they fit better and absorb vibration much better than Honda grips.

I've only had to remove / reinstall grios once on my Blackbird, and it was a messy PITA.
The Throttlemeister install was ultimately worth it, tho, so I'll try to muster the courage once more to install my used TM find here... I dread it.

Yes, the grips were the same all years.

If you have an air compressor changing grips is easy.
Remove the bar end weight, insert air gun between grip and throttle tube, wrap your hand around the end of grip to seal it, and one blast of air and the grip slides off.

My method is to use a long flat blade screwdriver inserted between grip and bar. Make sure the blade is flat against the bar so it doesn’t cut the grip and work it all around the bar to separate any glue or adhesive. With that done and with the screwdriver still inserted just twist the grip off. I haven’t always had access to compressed air.

As an alternative to the stock grips consider the Pro Grip 714. These straight grips feel great and are really inexpensive on Amazon or from the usual parts houses.

Thank you dduelin. The ones I am looking at have the throttle tube included as well. I will only need dbl. sided tape on the clutch side.

Pro Grip has some good choices....my favorite is the 719, I have lotta miles on those.

I wnt the straight grips so I can install Grip Puppies on them. I hate the contoured grip feel but, I like a larger grip.
Thank you all for your suggestions. As this is my first Sport Turing Bike, I will be asking advise several more times. I am going to be stripping a bunch of stuff (LED's, CB and Antenna), as well as needing to swap power from the CB to a USB charger tomorrow. You may hear from me soon. :)

@DeanR Where can the BMW grips be bought for that price? I’m seeing prices much higher.

Also considering Pro Grip 719’s for around $20 per pair. Are the BMW that good and worth it?

That price was a number of years ago. I just checked a couple sites ... $65 ..what the heck ??

I'd go with the Progrip 714's now. I have them on another bike.
