Gerbing's Heated Clothing - Now MADE IN AMERICA

LeeWonnacott

Last week I had the opportunity to spend an hour or so with Jeff Gerbing at their new plant in Stoneville, North Carolina. I was truly impressed at his sincere effort to bring jobs to Americans rather than leave his manufacturing facility in China.

If you have any doubts about this company as you make your choice to buy heated gear this should explain they are truly in tune with those that want a quality product made here and not somewhere abroad.

Video runs about 20 minutes.

Mods ... move to whatever category you feel appropriate.

I bought an Aerostich heated jacket after calling Gerbing first. In 2008, Gerbing's were making their gear in China. If they've moved operations to the USA, I'll be looking at them again when the Kenatsu needs replacement.

Anyone know of a dealer in southern Ontario, Canada, who stocks Gerbing. I would like to try on before I purchase and will buy from that dealer if a fair price. Got to support local and made in North American.

They don't have one shown on their dealer map, but that doesn't mean there isn't one. Send an email to info@gerbing.com and they should be able to help you. Since the day they started they have been known for very generous sample policies, plus a lifetime warranty. If you have an older Gerbing product that has failed for some reason they replace it, without charge, with a new design. I asked him if he could afford to keep doing that and his response was, "Yes, because we really don't have many failures!"

Thanks will check the Gerbing site, I tired to purchase last fall from their site, but since I am in Canada they didn't want to sell to me. A good reason was given, they had Canadian dealers - I respect that. But try to find one that has a selection to try in southern Ontario. I have had on order since November a heated (non motorcycle vest for my wife). Still don't have the correct one from the CDA distributor, they shipped the wrong part number to my local non stocking motorcycle dealer. So not going that route for my gear, want to see and touch as they say. Just want to spend my money:)

I think its great they are making them domestically, I doubt it was quite as altruistic as implied- the financial advantages of manufacturing in China have rapidly decayed and everything points to that to continue. I suspect that's more likely the motivation (and its fine if I'm mistaken).
