OK all you FJR owners: My seat locking cylinder does not work with the key anymore so cannot get my seat off. Tried another key an nada. Key goes into cylinder fine but will not turn to unlock. Can't get to the cylinder to remove it. I do have a Yamaha shop manual for the 2014ES but could not find anything on the locking cylinder itself.

Seat needs to come off to access tools, air pump, flashlight, and other stuff stored under the seat. Not sure how long this has been prevalent but last cleaning of the bike it worked fine. I found a stock seat I forgot about so was going to try and mount it and the cylinder will not unlock.

Advice on how I can get to the cylinder to remove it? I have all the screws out to remove the side cover but with the seat still on it does not come off. Did a search but did not find anything related to locking cylinder failure.

Some way to get to the cable to unlock the seat so I can remove it and then perhaps get to the cylinder so I can remove it and take to a locksmith for repair?

Ya maybe shoulda posted that over on the FJR forums..... yes you can hook the cable near the latch and pull on it to get the seat off..... anyway, glad you got it figgered out.

I knew I'd be of no help, I don't even remember how the seat worked on my FJR. It's been 3 years since I traded it in. Memory is getting worse.
