Well hello campers, it's Sunday. Fancy a cup or two? Good then, you're in the right place. French roast is in the pot.

There's just something about burnt beans and boiled water right? Unless you're cleaning a pot with burnt baked beans in it. That's no fun at all.

I didn't splurge on breakfast as I threw my back out yesterday, which is why I've been up for a couple of hours; but if you need I can rustle up some toast or a bowl of cereal, as long as no bending is required.

Outside it's dark but clear, and I can see the stars like Mr.Ed often does. I'm just not up to dog walking today.

It's a cold -19/-25 headed to a mostly sunny -9/-11.

At least it's not January right?

Hope everyone has a great day and remembers to give it the beans!

Obo.

Good morning everyone

Thanks for the juice of burnt bean, @Obo.

It's 89°F on my little patch of the Mekong, sunny, clear, and with less pollution haze than we've had elsewhere. We've grounded (deliberately) against a sandy bank, so as to have a place for tonight's barbecue dinner in a couple hours.

We had a nice shore visit to a small village this morning then steamed upriver with no more agenda than arriving here. It's been a nice, lazy afternoon.

Stay safe and well everyone and tell your dear ones you love them.

That's way tooooo early to be up. Ta me duck.
The weather, eck it's easier to paste it, but it's very OK'ISH for this time of year.

We had a wander yesterday up int'hills, very pleasant it was too and we got back around dusk. We managed to see a red squirrel which unfortunately are getting much rarer these day thanks to the pesky USA invaders of the squirrel variety.
Today will be steady one hopes, but there's usually only two hopes, Bob and no.
Av a gud un and remember, bend your knees.

Good morning and Thanks for the French roast Obo. Burnt beans are better. I felt awkward liking a post in which you said you threw your back out. Hope that comes around quickly.
Been warming up in central FL low of 60 and pushing 80 for a high. February feels like we're headed out of the tunnel of winter no longer heading into it even if we get more bad weather.
Gave a good one and remember, be safe out there.

"A cup of coffee and a slow Sunday - pure bliss."

-2°/4°C today, gray, dull, no precipitation predicted though...

Already had some cups of Joe... intend to get me another one... :coffee:

Cancelled the plans to continue working on the NT700VA in the shed today, GF got the chills and thermometer confirmed almost 38°C/100°F...
So she went back to bed, seeking to get more sleep...
For about a week she suffers some kidney/bladder issue and blames it on "getting into the cold car", whilst on the motorcycle she'd "at least be dressed accordingly"... :frown:
So the bred-maker and washer are running... me bingeing The Expanse... again...
(desperately seeking the BD releases, only got S1 ~ S3, they'd stopped release after that... full series boxes only in NTSC for obscene amounts...
but I've the complete book series in the shelf here too...)
We managed to see a red squirrel which unfortunately are getting much rarer these day thanks to the pesky USA invaders of the squirrel variety.
Saw a bright red one run over near the bike shed yesterday... poor critter... :frown:
We've black, brown and red ones... but their numbers are declining... mono-culture forestry, less oak trees, less feeding grounds, too many free-running cats in sterile, cultivated suburban gardens...
Not listed as endangered species, but sightings (like at the GF's allotment garden settlement) getting are getting sparse...
In my childhood they where all over the city... not a tree in a park or courtyard without them...
When I started riding in '92 they where crossing the roads leading through woodlands every few hundred yards...

enjoy the Sunday!

Good morning, everyone. Thanks for the coffee Obo.

Currently 40 and clear, but we should see sunny skies and 63 this afternoon. Can’t complain. I plan to get out for a walk today, hoping it will ease some of the soreness in my hip. It feel like I’ve ridden 500 miles on a stock ST seat. Hmmm…I may start using that analogy as an indicator of pain level. “ Feeling better Doc, like I just rode 10 miles.”

good morning all. thank you Obo for the coffee and I hope you get over the back pain soon.
49F on the dog walk with some clear spots in the clouds to see the stars. wife is going to go to dog class this morning and it looks like I might be added on the list to go. lets see, one dog one wife and one me. looks like I'm on the list. at best the high temp should hit 77F as the class is outside. enjoy the day

stay safe

Good morning all!
Thanks for the painful start Obo!
I find that doing stretches slowly and carefully help to bring relief!

I’m not waiting on Wiarton Willie’s prediction!
He lives just a half hour south of me!
I’ve never really understood what a ground hog has to do with what the weather is gonna do!!

I’m being dragged out for breakfast to the moose lodge.

69/83F with a gentle south breeze!
Enjoy your Sunday!

That's way tooooo early to be up.
Amen, and amen.
Remember, we're told nothing good happens after midnight.
Not sure i can totally buy into that, but i have wreaked havoc in my past, in the wee hours... maybe that's why I prefer to be asleep at those times.

Perhaps you need to tar 'n feather (tariff for short) those foreign squirrels.
My first thought as well. We have a rodent overrun here, just look in my back yard on any given day.
But I don't export them.

Thanks for the coffee, Obo.

Near 79 degrees later, and more sunshine. I can dig it.

Sorry about your back, Obo. Maybe a day of rest, with a steady supply of brown water will help? And no ladders, and no lifting. Nothing heavier than a coffee cup or glass of whiskey.

My Black Rifle - ⚫️ coffee - awaits upstairs,, and it's much nearer than Canada.

Hope the GF bounces back but be very careful if it's a kidney infection. It can quickly lead to Peritonitis in some cases which is not good. Symptoms would include stomach pain, bloated stomach, trouble breathing and nausea amongst others.

Good morning, and thanks for the coffee start, Obo.
I hope your back starts feeling better, soon

It's sunny and 10f/-12c in MA this morning, and it'll rise to 28f/-2c for today's high.
A little less wind, though. 5-10mph.

Yesterday, I borrowed the neighbor's dog, and got out for a 4.5mi walk. We found a path less travelled, as we made our way home from the "Outback".

Today, Brenda will do a bit of shopping, and we'll clean up in preparation for a visit by our son and granddaughter, tomorrow.
Dinner at our favorite Chinese restaurant, later.

Enjoy the day,
Steve

Well, she works in hospital administration (chief secretary of the boss-woman there...), hence she has relevant knowledge and access...
But thanx for the concern...
Just fed her with a big plate of spaghetti, tugged her back into bed...

Thanks for the coffee Obo! I feel your pain. I used to strain my back on a semi-regular basis and it was not a good experience.

It was -7F (-23C) this morning when I dragged my sorry self out of bed an hour ago. Appears to be clear and sunny for now. It is supposed to make it to 22F today, we will see.

Yesterday included removing the overnight surprise 5 inches of snow from the driveway, making banana bread and researching some reloading data to enable one hunting rifle to be able to shoot further than I can see (without using binoculars).

Today, well, maybe some laundry and sourdough bread and a short walk if the temperature actually gets above "Oh heck no".

Ah, squirrels... when I first moved here 2.5 years ago they were everywhere, including my garage. Big, fat Grey ones with the occasional red one. My pellet rifle stayed by the back door and got plenty of exercise. Last summer I saw almost none. I attribute that to a family of coyotes moving into the area that spring.

Be safe, be careful and enjoy what you have because others may not even have that.

Good morning, all, and thanks for the coffee, Obo, hits the spot! Here are some more good thoughts to banish that back bain - hope you feel better soon!

Halleluiah, the Diclofenac is working! Man, that stuff is amazing. Within two hours of taking it yesterday, I was able to make a full fist with both hands (couldn't even close my fingers before that) with the exception of my left index finger, which still won't bend all the way - still too much inflammation in it. It now bends aaalmost all the way, though, the swelling is coming down and though it's still uncomfortable, it isn't excruciating and I can use it without yelping. I've just taken today's dose, so I should feel even better by tomorrow. I will never forget to renew that prescription again. Next time a flare-up even thinks about happening, I shall head it off at the pass.

It's pretty damned cold out there this morning: -17°C/1°F with a feels-like of -23°C/-9°F. We're in a bit of a warm-up for the next day or two, though, so temps will rise steadily from here until we actually get to a degree or so above freezing sometime tomorrow (and no, these big temperature swings do not mix well with rheumatoid arthritis :(). It'll be overcast all day and we'll get some snow tonight. More snow tomorrow, looks like it'll be pretty heavy in the afternoon.

Looks like the groundhogs are in disagreement this year; U.S. prognosticator Punxsutawney Phil has predicted 6 more weeks of winter, as have Canadians Shubenacadie Sam (Nova Scotia) and Fred la marmotte (Québec), whereas Wiarton Willie (Ontario) says there will be an early spring. Sigh. What...evaaaaar. Lol.

Everyone have a great day, stay safe and go safely. And don't put that snow shovel away just yet.

Patty

Morning all! Woke up to it snowing again. Much like yesterday, I don't expect it to stick. It's 1C with mixed rain and snow and a predicted high of 3C. We may see some sun here and there.

Obo, hope you feel better soon. Sounds like you're not alone, a number of people here appear to have bean there done that.

I'm actually just working my way through the original Expanse books. Hadn't realized there was a tv series, will have to look for it and see if I can download it somewhere. Maybe get one of the Spawn to look into it.

Spent yesterday just lazing around the house for the most part, reading, napping or watch tv (highly recommend a new show on Prime - On Call, very good) though I did get the dog out for a good walk. This covid can leave anytime it wants. So far just a bad cough and a persisting fatigue. I think the cough is starting to recede so hopefully that means things are on the mend. Stupid illness.....

Right, dogs want feeding and I think I hear the siren song of the bed for a nap. Hope everyone has a great day!

Good morning, Wow one inch of snow, wife was right she predicted it or prayed for it . First snowfall this winter .0 C with a high of 2C 40% chance of snow all day and Monday. Guess I finally get to see how the snow rated all weather tires work on the Mazda 2 . Guess I'm kind of crazy,I like driving in the snow, with a rear wheel drive. Forgot Mazda is FWD maybe not. Thanks Obo for coffee, heal the back ,Eh. Thanks Stinner for the laughs. Breakfast time.
